I like everything about this show except Gloria. She grates on my nerves in ways that no amount of eye candy can offset.

That description sounds great for the guest star scenario alone.

Funny, I haven't heard a things she's said so there's no way it can be annoying. Stare at her boobs more and don't listen, it works for me.

She is the least interesting character outside of the baby.

Poor Lily doesn't even warrant inclusion on the promotional photo (although part of her car seat is in frame).

I know the episode's not over yet, but there's just something off about it. I felt the same thing last week too. There just seems to be something missing, as though they're trying to capture the greatness of earlier episodes and everything is falling flat.

Shelley Long. And yes, it's her; she looks different than she did in Season One though...

Re: Modern Family -- "Princess Party" -- 2/16/11

Yeah, this episode just didn't do it for me, yet again. There were a few funny lines and sight gags, but overall the episode was just sorta 'meh' for me. Am I the only one that feels that way?

I mean last week they rehashed Clive and Julianne and while there were some good parts, overall it was probably one of the weaker episodes. I think this week was even weaker. They bring back Shelley Long again, which is fine, but it all just felt so forced and inauthentic. It seemed like they were just trying to one-up the wackiness of her first appearance, and it definitely didn't work for me. And then they sort of used Fizbo again as well...

Cam was the only real redeeming part of the episode, namely the bit about never breaking character and then Mitchell making a little girl very happy.

I haven't noticed any drop in quality, if anything I've grown to like the show even more recently.

Easily the highlight in an otherwise mediocre episode. The ex-boyfriend/Dillon cameo had potential but felt squandered on an underdeveloped idea.

Alex chiming in with "Who is Alex Trebek?" was cute.

Gloria should always be on Xanax.

Tend to agree this episode felt off. There have been a few this season where the timing just isn't right. Show is still great though.

She's 62 years old and aging naturally; I don't think she looks too bad.

I liked and knew that Phil would jump onto Gloria and hold her down from fighting.

I liked last weeks just fine, but this episode definitely felt forced. I personally relate it back to the writers --

Elaine Ko and Carol Leifer wrote last nights underwhelming episode, and it was the first time for both of them to take lead on an episode (Elaine Ko is a staff writer, not sure about Carol Leifer).

Similarly, Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan seem to be a dreamteam of mediocre as well, writing a few of the lesser episodes (Mother Tucker, Earthquake). Which means S02E19 is likely to be lackluster as well.

Does Matt Dillon (or John Cusack) ever age?
