Severance (Apple TV+) S: Scott, P. Arquette, Turturro, Walken, EP: Stiller - premieres 2/18/22

From Ben Stiller and creator Dan Erickson, Severance centers around Mark Scout (Adam Scott), a leader of a team of office workers whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and personal lives.

This experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

Severance features Adam Scott, who stars alongside Academy-Award winner Patricia Arquette, Emmy-winner John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Academy Award winner Christopher Walken.
9 episodes.

The show premieres tomorrow. Reviews are pretty much outstanding across the board, except for Richard Roeper, who only mildly liked it and gave it a 63 of 100 (I Would NOT read his review or even the blurb on Metacritic, seems like it spoils something).

Considering how great Stiller’s last TV directorial effort was, that is no surprise. Looking forward to this.

It took about 20 minutes for me to get into this but after that it's pretty interesting.

I have hopes for this one. Really enjoyed the first two episodes. The writing and story seem fresh and not just a new coat of paint on a story that's been done a thousand times before.

I like it but can see it being extremely alienating for many.

It's a slllloooowwwww burn. Very much looking forward to next week's episode.

I have watched the first two and yep it’s very slow but intriguing for sure.

This really feels like a movie that Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry might have done about 15 years ago.

It is bizarre and slow and you just can’t turn away .

Yeah, a bit slow but fascinating, if you can get past the initial premise (why would anyone agree to such a procedure in the first place?)

Anyone else think that
Spoiler:
Christopher Walken and John Turturro are father/son in the "outtie" world?

By far one of my favorite new shows of the year. It's like an ongoing Black Mirror episode.

Bandoman hadn't even considered that, brilliant deduction my good man! (or lovers....)

Spoiler:
Yes my first thought was lovers on the outside

I am really digging it. It's so odd and I know there will be twists but I am not really figuring things out. I am sure there are spoilers out there, but I want to remain surprised.

I’m also on the Lovers thing. Holy shit. Just finished episode 4. Wow.

I fucking hate they put that disclaimer at the start of the episode. Although that particular disclaimer didn’t turn out the way I thought.

Can’t wait for episode 5 on Thursday night, assuming they come out at midnight eastern.

That warning ruined a lot of this episode for me. Even if I couldn't guess who it would be, I couldn't help spend most of the episode speculating. I wish there was a way to turn content warnings off on all these streaming services.

I missed the disclaimer. My habit of turning stuff on before I'm sitting finally came in handy.

I am really digging this show. I still am not sure where it is going but I am hoping
Spoiler:
that they do not add supernatural elements to it, but looking at the last episode it is possible. Kiel could be the anti-Christ. I hope not

Some great acting in this one. The sister is fantastic. The whole concept is just horrid.

I believe they go into production on Season 2 very soon. One critic said there is a pretty big cliffhanger after the finale, episode 9.

This show is pretty great.

I feel like more people should be watching it, definitely one of the more unique programs out there.

...and I say this with no idea how many actually are

Definitely. It is like almost boring but it moves along just enough that it becomes super compelling.

Episode 6 is up and was fun. The puzzle is starting to take shape and expand its scope after all the setup.

It's all poetic as shit.

I was ready to punt the show after 3 eps, but really enjoying it now. i do think this is one that would benefit from a binge watch, just because of the convoluted (aka weird) nature of it

Slow burn..... Sssssllllloooowww burn. But worth it.

The title sequence they incorporated beginning with Ep #2.... I watched it then and it kinda freaked me out a little. The production team did a great job of coming up with something that knocks you off-balance and is a little bit unsettling. Kinda like they intended to pre-fuck your mind before diving into the show. Having seen it now, I don't care to watch it again.... but I do because I thoroughly expect that it will change weekly. It doesn't, but that hasn't deterred my from thinking that it will. See how well their fuckery works?!?
