Okay, is it an ending that makes sense in a good way, as in "man, that was well worth the wait, can't believe I never figured it out," or "man, that was a total and complete waste of time, cant believe they did something so much like something else," (i.e. it was a dream, they're ghosts, they're all machines, it cuts to black, Kevin Spacey is the bad guy,). In retrospect, I loved the Sopranos ending, but was left feeling kind of empty at the time.

Do you really want to know?

I voted disappointed in the poll but I'm in the minority.

Depends on who you ask and how they watched the show. People who watched weekly and scrutinized every detail probably reacted drastically different than people who marathoned the series in the last few weeks.

You shouldn't be asking questions like that. IMO it's just looking for a reason not to watch it. I think Lost like most long running serial dramas is one of those show you watch and enjoy the ride. The ending is what it is. Alot of it is left to open interpretation.

Re: Never seen a full ep. of Lost, don't want to be spoiled

I haven't watched a single episode. I decided to watch Lost after the first 4 seasons. But, I decided to wait until it was all over with to begin watching. Today, I've had two people tell me
Spoiler:
"did you hear they were all dead on Lost?"
I said, "Thanks for spoiling it for me! They then said,
Spoiler:
"But I'm not really sure they were or not. I couldn't tell."
. So, I don't know if I should begin watching the DVDs or not.

Either of those statements being true would irritate the hell out of me if I had invested that kind of time into it. Moreso the latter.

I love how he started a thread about not wanting the show to be spoiled for him and now all the thread is, is spoiler tags that he probably doesn't want to click on.

Well, FWIW, it seems like the consensus is

Spoiler:
nothing got answered and it's all up to interpretation.

In short, Abrams and co. didn't know what would be the right ending, so they just didn't do one. Which, if true, means that this should be watched for the parts and not the sum.

That's not necessarily true. Most people that watched it were satisfied with the ending. Look at the poll in the other thread. The vast majority said "loved it" or "good".

I think you're better off watching the DVD's now. You won't bother yourself with trying to figure out every last detail, you'll just keep watching. If you do that, I think you'll be satisfied with the whole show.

I haven't read any articles, but apparently the ending is quite Sopranos-esque in that it leaves a lot open to the viewer to decide.

How about you just start watching the DVDs now, form your own opinion of the series and leave the speculating for the actual show. Here's the thing, the general consensus is, IT'S WORTH WATCHING. So go with that. The longer you ruminate about it, the bigger the chance that something IS going to get spoiled for you.

I only ever watched the final episode - never watched another episode. Sorry to say, the 'main' concept of the ending is nothing terribly new. It's been done in movies, several times before.

Of course, there seems to be a thousand other ideas and questions raised throughout the show - many which ended up for interpretation.
