I don't think he cared if he killed him. He just wanted him out of the way. Notice that the kid just smiled at the MiB, and made no attempt to stop him from doing whatsoever he wanted with him ...

The MiB did fear Desmond for some reason, and I now think Desmond ties into The MiB's backstory somehow. Why else would he ask Desmond, "Do you know who I am?" Desmond is the first person that MiB has stated that to.

I'm thinking the boy's appearance had something to do with that. Maybe one of the rules is that he can't use his "smoke powers" to kill a candidate.

That and I'm guessing he just cared more about getting rid of Desmond than about actually killing him.

It's about as likely to be the afterlife as it is Oz.

My wife noticed that the Willy Wonka Boat song is in the background of the previews for next week. Pretty trippy stuff. It's about the 3:50 mark on the original below. I don't have a you tube clip of the preview but it's the same, no doubt.

Desmond is acting like Jacob in the Alternate timeline, he is visiting everyone and influencing them in one way or another, thus creating a altered path for their lives.

Exactly and Oz is not the afterlife, you said it's afterlife, the burden of proof lies with you.

Great episode and once again I'll say what I've been saying since the premier of Season 2 when we didn't even know wtf he was really: Desmond is the most interesting character on the show!

Seems to me based on the ending of this episode, Jack is setup to be the main candidate/antagonist to Flocke.

I could provide proof to my theory, but you might get upset if it turns out to be correct. Personally, I hope I'm wrong, but a lot of things are clicking after this episode.

Re: Lost -- "Everybody Loves Hugo" -- 04/13/10

My head hurts.

I'm still in the camp saying that this show is SO enjoyable, but a few episodes before the finale and I can't say I understand much of what is going on at all. Just a bunch of theories that have no clear thread.

Someone I was watching this episode with said, "I can't imagine them being able to wrap this up by the finale in such a way that I feel satisfied as a viewer."

Though they're answering questions, they're still holding back so much that it seems to be getting more convoluted week-by-week.

Go ahead, theories are ok as long as it's presented that way.
some people get bent up when people present things as fact.

They wish.....I am all about using the word "fuck", but I am not the type to throw it at someone as a verbal assault in a forum for dvds.....I am no where near that hardcore.

I do like that there are rumors about me though, that means people acknowledge my existence...in a forum.....for dvd's.

Definitely not the first. He just asked that same question to Widmore a couple episodes back.

Re: Lost -- "Everybody Loves Hugo" -- 04/13/10

so James & Desmond both were able to see the "boy"

but Richard couldn't... wow he's useless

ilana was a waste... James didn't even get an opportunity to hit it

Smocke is just oozing more evil by the minute (do some of you people still believe he's good?)

Libby confirms that dead on island = self aware in the "bizzaro alternate universe"

Desmond quickly moved to the alt after being thrown down the well, attempted to kill Locke. this seems to be what happened (as he is aware in both reality's)

or he could have been trying to "show him something"

hell, maybe killing him in the alt will bring him back in island time

Libby's cleavage was all I could see during her shot on the beach. They were just out there for the taking.

Awesome episode....I feel like a lot of people felt they were going to be let down...clearly I think they were wrong. From people blowing up to people blowing up things.....to Desmond being a badass.....excellent all around.

Re: Lost -- "Everybody Loves Hugo" -- 04/13/10

Did Desmond know he was with Fake Locke and not the real Locke? That's why I initially thought he ran over Real Locke in the Alt. Timeline.

Episode seemed a bit off to me. Maybe it was because I was watching on a 27" tube instead of my HD set? Not sure.
