Could the ALT be the Afterlife?
That would explain why people who have been dead longer have more of an idea about the OT, and why Desmond claimed to the MiB that there was nothing left to fear in the OT? It would also explain that some are stuck 'in-between' like Michael. Of course, this means that most of the main characters die at some point!

Looks like this season just shifted up a gear. Lots of stuff going on in this episode.
Sideways Desmond clearly has figured out a lot. Perhaps with the help of Sideways Daniel.

Seems like Desmond was looking to kill Sideways Locke. How would you expect someone to live through a hit like that? I think because Locke is dead on the island, he needs to be dead in SidewaysWorld, too.

I'm convinced the boy is Jacob now. Third time they showed a boy in the jungle and he has aged each time. This one looked more like Jacob than the last two.

I don't think so. He didn't kill Faraday, Charlie or Libby. He just needs them to remember.

Doubt it, plenty of people dead on one and not the other.

I also really enjoyed the eerie wonders of Ben's sing-a-long to a Willy Wonka tune!

I think it's 100% obvious and not even worth debating that Desmond's ultimate goal is getting Locke to remember the island, probably by reuniting him with Jack at the hospital, rather than just plowing into him as some sort of revenge. Since, you know, that's what he's doing now.

Methinks Desmond had to ALMOST kill him, and get Locke to remember the plane crash and landing. This would tie Locke back into the OR. This is to justify my theory that the island isn't done with Locke yet, either.
Of course, I could be full of it.

I'm going with my afterlife theory now. In the same way Charlie kinda spit on killing himself again, which wouldn't have worked since he was already dead, Desmond ran down Locke hoping he would have a OT flashback.

I bet he hoped to kill him and that he understands something about how the consciousness between timelines is important and hopes to use that to alter FLocke's island plans.

Damn Hurley episodes. I always want KFC afterwards.
Also, Smocke's method of getting rid of Desmond was rather silly if he really wants him dead. I mean really, pushing him down a well and then walking away? Wouldn't it be more thorough to turn into smoke, grab him, and whack his head against a tree half a dozen times?
