In Plain Sight -- Season 3 Premiere -- "Father Goes West" -- 03/31/10

In Plain Sight

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
After being discharged from the hospital with a fresh bullet wound scar, Mary gets right back to work, investigating the possibility that one of her witnesses has resumed his life of crime. Meanwhile, Marshall is determined to discover the identity of Mary's shooter.

Special Guest Star is Donnie Wahlberg.

New showrunner/head writer is John McNamara, who previously worked on Eyes on ABC.

New interview with Mary. She gives some good insight into the new season:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://wgtclsp.usanetwork.com/o/4984adb196fcedf7/4bb320401e232b5a/4984adb196fcedf7/7f63be8e/-cpid/561aad86aad2109b" id="W4984adb196fcedf74bb320401e232b5a" width="400" height="400"><param name="movie" value="http://wgtclsp.usanetwork.com/o/4984adb196fcedf7/4bb320401e232b5a/4984adb196fcedf7/7f63be8e/-cpid/561aad86aad2109b" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowNetworking" value="all" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /></object>

Can someone refresh my memory what happened at the end of season 2? I vaguely remember it ended on a cliffhanger.

Anyways, season 2 was inconsistent, but I really like Mary and Fred Weller and look forward to the new direction the show is taking.

Also, Todd Williams (Bobby D) and Lesley Ann Warren (Jinx) are only going to be guest stars on the show. They were dropped as regular cast members at the end of last season.

Season 2 was a real letdown; I gave up about halfway through. Hopefully having a new showrunner will invigorate the show.

I think there were alot more bad/mediocre episodes than good ones last season. The worst episode last season I recall focused on Stan, Mary and Marshall's boss.

It does look like Holly Maples (Eleanor) will be back even though her husband David, who created IPS, was essentially fired from the show. Not sure in what capacity though. I loved her banter with Mary.

It wasn't in HD last year? Man if that's true, my memory sucks.

Haven't had time to watch this yet, but here's the blurb:

http://www.zap2it.com/news/zap-in-pl...,7212537.story

Starting this season, "Sight" is being shot in high definition, which means, quite simply, that viewers will literally be seeing more of U.S. Marshals Mary Shannon and Marshall Mann (Mary McCormack, Fred Weller), as well as Albuquerque, N.M., where the series is filmed on location.
I recall alot of people said the show looked really cheap the way it was shot in seasons 1 and 2. Hopefully Mary will look good in HD this season.

Nice, glad to see it in HD. What did you guys think of the premiere?

I liked how they picked back up from the cliffhanger and man, love Donnie Wahlberg on TV. He did a great job here.

Re: In Plain Sight -- Season 3 Premiere -- "Father Goes West" -- 03/31/10

Just finished this and thought this was actually a really good premiere. It was a little slow, but I thought this case was actually more interesting than most of the cases from last season. I also liked that it wrapped up the cliffhanger from last season. You could already tell that John McNamara is focusing alot more on Mary and Marshall's cases than the nonsense family drama.

I liked how they explained that Dershowitz is working on a case in Chicago since he is no longer a fulltime cast member.

Donnie Wahlberg was actually really good as the witness. He brought alot of intensity to his scenes.

Anyone notice the side boob shot of Mary with Raph in the final scene?

Wahlberg is usually pretty good. He was great in Boomtown

Stan's tactics to get Mary to go home was pretty funny as was Marshall bothering the gang.

I'm happy the family stuff will be moved further into the background, the less Jinx the better

Why was David fired. I loved the Eleanor character and her banter with Mary.
Less Jinx, the better.

David Maples apparently butted heads with the Execs at USA who didn't like Season 2, which most fans agreed as well. USA liked the show and renewed it, but decided to go in a different direction and hired McNamara.

Even though he was a "Series Regular" he was hardly on the show last season.

Apparently, Holly Maples has left the show along with her husband. Did a little more research and found Mary McCormack's twitter page and she said in February she isn't returning this season.

The Mary getting shot resolution was a bit of an anticlimax; compared to how the last season had ended.
The witness story was nice.

I hope her sister tells her that it is their father calling her via 'private number' Very difficult to figure that one out.
How long will they drag that out. I agree with the prvious poster that the only good charater is Marshall Marshall. THe rest are just needy whiners

I hope they bring back Big Red--- laura Prepon.

Wahlberg's always on top of his game in TV appearances.

I agree about the changes too, I always liked that they focused on the cases and it's + points that those will stay in the forefront.

I wish they would get rid of Mary's boyfriend. I have a hard time believing Mary would be interested in such a himbo. She had much better chemistry with Bobby D - bring him back!

I love Donnie Wahlberg. I really enjoyed his CW show Runaway before it got cancelled.

Liked the premiere quite a bit. Donnie Wahlberg was excellent, as always.
