Yeah I'm still having a blast this season. 24 at its 'worst' is still better, imo, than most other shows. Knowing this is the end, I will be appreciating these final episodes even more.

This used to be true of 24 a few years back, but this season? I don't see it. I could come up with a dozen other shows that have been better this year, and I'm sure the die hard tv watchers could come up with two dozen.

I've been bookmarking every time this ridiculous phrase it trotted out this season. Here's the tally so far(and I've probably missed a few):

At least MacNortan and jpb narrow it down to 'network' tv, which they may have an angle with. I think the only shows truly worse than 24 on 'network' television this year are reality shows and Heroes. Fortunately for their argument 90% of network tv is reality tv so it kinda works. Oh, and Heroes has been terrible for the past 3 years so not much of a win there.

Personally, I think this phrase needs to be retired. It worked for Arrested Development because it was ahead of its time, but not so much for other shows. This season has proven that a bad episode of 24 is just that, a bad episode of 24. It's no better than bad episodes of any other given show.

I've only used this phrase when referring to Friday Night Lights. It has had a few episodes that aren't that great, but its bad episodes are leaps and bounds better than most other shows--network TV or not. But overall, I agree with you...especially when referring to 24 this season.

While I'll watch 24 till the end, the twist in last week's episode was so insulting that I couldn't get it out of my head for a couple days. It still irritates me to think about it. Knowing that this is the last season, I'm hoping the writers finish it up nicely and put it to rest, barring a movie or something.

I absolutely hate those cheesy cliched phrases.

I understand how most fans were pissed about the reveal last week, but the episode was still entertaining IMO. There was still some good action sequences and Jack was prevalent through most of it.

As bad as this season has been as of late, it's still better than 95% of anything to air on television ever in the history of the contraption's existence.

Even at its worst, this thread is still more entertaining than anything you'll read in the Book Talk forum.

We have 14 month old triplets. Our time is not our own.

(although I do make it a point to watch 'Chuck' live (or at least 1/2 hour delayed as to FF commercials so I guess I know where my loyalties live.)

I'll get to them. I've watched every season, I won't quit with 1/2 a season to go.

WOW! In other words, YES, you have something else to do on Monday nights at 9pm. Or 10pm. Or 11pm...

Okay, 14 month old triplets are definitely understandable for a delay. Good Luck!

Daily Variety interviewed Kiefer Sutherland about this season and what lies ahead including the movie. It's a good read.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- "5:00am to 6:00am" -- 03/29/10

Easily the best episode of the season.

"I don't take orders from anyone but the President of the United States."

Why couldn't they have done this from the start? Jack and Renee teaming up to kill some bad guys. Jack was a killing machine this episode. He took all those special ops guys out like he was shooting fish in a barrel. Don't people know by now to not mess with Jack? Nice to see President Hassan get in on the action too. It's too bad he heard the ransom demand; he's a good guy, you know he will turn himself over to save lives.

On another note, Dana is far more effective as a bad guy. I like that she isn't working for the terrorists, but for someone else who is calling the shots. The shadow organization from last season perhaps?

Can't wait until Chloe exposes Dana for the rat that she is.

President Taylor is just great. I love that she isn't willing to compromise. She has to make the tough calls and is willing to stand by her decisions and do what she knows is right. She did it last season and she continues to do it this season. I really hope Ethan doesn't die.

Did anyone else think Hassan's daughter's boyfriend was having second thoughts about detonating the nuclear rods? Not because he was afraid of dying, but because he might actually know it's wrong.

EDIT: The previews for the remaining episodes look AMAZING!

Spoiler:
Looks like I was right about Hassan, but I think that was a pretty obvious development. We'll definitely get some good action out of that. Also can't wait for the Jack and Dana showdown; I hope he kills her. And the return of...Charles Logan?! Maybe the shadow organization is somehow involved in all this?

Sure helps when the member of an elite special ops team who is on orders to kill everyone but Hassan decides that it would be a better idea to elbow Jack to the ground.

Betty Blue vs. Jack Bauer? Fucking awesome. They should have pulled that casting card earlier in the season. Cast him in the Freddie Prince role and have them both kicking some ass all season long.

Pretty odd to go from a great episode to the worst episode of the season to the best episode of the season all in three weeks.

I loved the Pres. Taylor scene. I also hope Ethan makes it, but with 24 not returning I guess it doesn't matter much at this point.

Enjoyed the eppie. Hopefully it'll finish strong, hard, and fast.

I threw in "fast" to minimize the "that's what she said" entries.

Pretty good episode! I think when the writers hit episode 12 (last episode), they just decided to do a reboot. They turned Dana bad--where she's MUCH better, and they turned Renee strong again--where she's MUCH better. Agreed that it should have started out this way.

...though LOL at Dana whispering to the bad guy in the midst of everyone at CTU. :P
