Re: South Park -- "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" -- 03/24/10
See... not knowing anything about what this was poking fun at, the only thing that popped (not pooped) into my head right away, was a book that was like 2 Girls, 1 Cup. Something that's so completely vial and disgusting, yet, somehow, has captured the attention of everyone (aka, viral). Even if you haven't seen it, you've probably heard about it. And there are videos on the net of people trying to do "normal" things while watching it, like eating a candy bar, without puking. I could be wrong, but that's what I got from it.
I found it amusing. But then, I find just about anything SP related amusing... I'm not to critical.. I watch to be entertained, not enlightened.

I liked this episode much better than last week, especially talking shit about Sarah Jessica Parker.

Maybe the tasting of his tears is where I stop believing though.

Meanings:
1. I remember when I read "Catcher in the Rye" in junior high, knowing that it as a frequent target of bannings. I found the book to be quite tame an innocuous.
2. People trying to hang political intent when there isn't any.
3. 2 girls 1 cup, style reaction videos on Youtube.
4. Book fads. (Though they already covered that with Eat Pray Queef)
5. J. D. Salinger's death.

I'm sorry but animated people puking is just pure comedy gold, especially on South park.

This episode made me sad. I'd hope these past two were their "banked" episodes and next week's is something more topical... though they tend to not lead off with banked shows which does not bode well for the remaining episodes in this run.

Didn't like the episode but did enjoy the SJP stuff. Also, I fully regret I went and google for 2 girls, 1 cup.

Upon reflection, I think this episode would've been greatly improved if they dropped most of the media reaction and saved the SJP stuff for another episode. Instead, they should've moved the Kardashian murders into the second act and had Butters react by becoming a reclusive author. Have him move into JD Salinger's old house, with Thomas Pynchon and Cormac McCarthy as neighbors and go in a completely different direction.
