Yeah... too much fluff and not enough stuff.
I can wait until February.

Is this because the kid playing Carl is going to college? Or is he going to survive this and be the anti-body to survive the zombie apocalypse?

Not a bad episode finally. I figured Ezekiel would be dead by the end of the episode, but I was wrong.

I only watched the first few minutes but didn’t Scott Gimple basically state he had more to add to the story. Suicide mission?

Yeah. Just saw that after I posted. Carl has become one of the best, if not the best character on the show, which is surprising cause he was a complete ass the first few seasons to the point a lot of people wanted the character dead back then.
Kirkman has always said that Carl was going to make it through the end in the book. I always saw it kind like an improved version of the Red Dead Redemption story where it starts with the father and ends up with the son in the same position as his dad.

Needs more slow shots of everyone's faces. That's what it needs. Could have easily stretched it out to two hours.

So you've knocked Negan down and have the baseball bat in your hand - and all you do is butt-end him with it, and then wait for his reaction? Take a big swing downward and smash his fucking head in!
Why couldn't Rick have gotten bitten instead?

Interesting episode. I could tell within 15 minutes that it had a different feel. Different director? New editor? Music was surprisingly good (I was expecting some gay (no offense) folk singer with autotune vocals to break into song).

What a horribly disappointing mid-season finale, and what a colossal waste of time this season has been.
Good news is that after this they can save a ton of money by just re-running season 7 and calling it season 9. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It actually started off pretty good ... almost the TWD of old.
Then it turned back into the usual shit-show quickly ... more thoughts after I sleep and digest this.

It was one of the better episodes of the 1st 8, but that really isn't saying much.
Rick got stupid quick in his fight scene with Negan. He fricking had Lucille in his hands!! He could have easily bashed Negan's skull to pieces, but he got stupid quick.
Was Morgan even in this episode? Or was that quick shot of him in the little montage it?
I don't really have any emotional reaction to Coral getting bit. It is what it is. I honestly think that season 7 episode 1 sucked the life out of this show and any emotional attachment we as viewers once had for these characters.
and yes, there is too many characters on this show and way too many series regulars.

Did they even say how the Saviors escaped? I know Simon said Eugene used music to draw the walkers away but was it ever explained?
BTW, I called it. https://forum.dvdtalk.com/13220552-post30.html

With all of time Negan spends standing out in the open running his mouth, you'd think someone would shoot him.
It's like he knows he has plot armor.
It's getting ridiculous, he gives them so many opportunities to end the war, and nobody takes it. Remember when Rick ripped that guy's throat out with his teeth? I want that Rick back.

The use of music reminded me somewhat of "Friday Night Lights".

Did the cameraman forget to take the lens cap off before he filmed this episode?
Maybe I'm losing my sight. All I saw was 90 minutes of darkness. I couldn't make heads nor tails out of most of what was going on.

I agree. I'm a Negan fan and think it's time for him to go. I was pretty disappointed that the entire first half of this season resolved nothing. The only thing that moved the needle last night was Dwight can no longer be a double agent. Rick and the gang are exactly back where they was a whole season ago.
I guess it was silly for me to think the Negan storyline would get wrapped up last night, but they hyped this finale up as being a massive 90 minute episode with a shocking ending.
Poor lighting and some really bad editing made it unclear to most people who actually did get shot.

Didn't see that coming. I guess Chandler is going to college or something.

100% Scott Gimple’s decision. Killing Carl makes little sense and it ruins any impact by having it extend into next year. Whatever. This show is background noise to me since last season’s BS.

Watched for the first time in a while. Still boring. A lot of nothing in 90 mins.
And agree with all above, Rick could have easily brained Neegan, but plot got in the way.
