How I Met Your Mother -- "Hooked" -- 03/01/10

HIMYM

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Ted's friends think he's being strung along by a woman (played by Carrie Underwood) and it makes them reflect on their own similar experiences.

I don't watch this show at all, but LorenzoL asked me to create this thread for him as he is too busy on Monday's now. I do like Carrie Underwood making a TV appearance though.

Kind of a meh episode for me.Didn't much care for the "on the hook" or the Scooter storys.Barney always makes me laugh though.

Definitely a filler episode, and I agree with your assessment.

The scenes with Barney and Carrie Underwood "through the ages" were great. Ted has to be the most unlikeable character on the show and he's the lead.

I would not at all object to a looping gif of that entire sequence.

He's the straight man, there for the rest to play off. If Barney were the most normal, you wouldn't appreciate him, and the show would have no centre.

I liked the whole episode. The highlight was Carrie Through the Ages though.

Jerry Seinfeld and Ray Romano come to mind. You can have a boring, normal character as your center without having him just be a terrible character in general. Jerry & Ray played the straight role for others to play off of and it worked great. Ted is simply a terrible character.

I don't get all the Ted hate. He probably is the least interesting character but he has his moments and I think he does a good job of anchoring the show.

I've never had a problem with Ted either, while he is my least favorite show I still enjoy his situation and laugh at him a lot. I think of him as the glue that holds the rest of them together, without him there wouldn't be a show.

An OK episode. I didn't even register that was Carrie Underwood. Good thing I visited this thread.

Never heard of a "teacup pig" before so not sure that would get me to a guy's apartment. It sure was cute, though.

Fine episode for me.

And I like Ted. He's not my favorite character from the show, of course, but I like him.
