Chuck reportedly renewed for 3rd season (Official announcement Monday)

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Nikki Finke's entertainment blog, but she's a very credible source for TV/Entertainment News.

She's reporting as a headline-only that NBC renewed Chuck, Medium and Law Order. No other information provided. The announcment is expected Monday.

She also reports that Parks and Recreation also got renewed for a 2nd season.

I'm sure she is correct, but I won't jump for joy until I hear NBC's official announcement Monday.

Don't much care about anything else, but good for them if it's true.

Chuck had BETTER be renewed for a 3rd season. I'm not gonna jump the celebration gun either, but that is encouraging.

Not necessarily doubting Finke, but as far as the subject line goes, whether it's renewed or not I don't think we'll be hearing Monday, at least not according to Zachary Levi: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watc...week_more.html

Well considering she posted her headline at 8:30pm PT and that story was written at 9am, I think she's a little more up to date.

But, I think her going out and posting this on her blog tonight is already a positive.

Definitely very possible. I wasn't trying to threadcrap or start anything, but figured I'd post that since Levi talks about Schwartz's email specifically saying the decision won't come Monday. You're right that a lot can happen in 12 hours, though, so here's to hoping that Finke is on the money.

Re: Chuck reportedly renewed for 3rd season (Official announcement Monday)

While I thought the first season of Chuck was hit and miss, during the second season it grew to be the most consistently entertaining show on TV. It's one of my few absolute same night watches, usually starting it while it still airing.

I'm not getting my hopes up about it renewal until it's official. Even in this report it just her insider saying that he bets it will be back but the decision hasn't been made yet.

The sad thing is, like Jericho before it, if they had cancelled this after season one I probably wouldn't have cared. Now, I do.

Nikki is right about 80 % of the time, so we'll see.

I'm glad to hear about Medium as well. That's one of my favorite shows.

Well, here's hoping. It's currently our favorite action-comedy with heart. Oh wait, it's the only one, isn't it.

I'm hoping Nikki is right and I'd love for NBC to announce it tomorrow but all the tweets I've read on Twitter still indicate that NBC will take longer to decide on Chuck's fate.... so we'll see but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Re: Chuck reportedly renewed for 3rd season (Official announcement Monday)

How will NBC's schedule work?

Medium, Heroes, Chuck, Southland = 2 Days of Programming
Thursday Night (Lets roll with Earl, Parks, Office, 30 Rock) = 1 Day of Programming

That leaves 2 days for all their other shows and new ones? Unless they do shorter seasons (i.e. Heroes at 18-20) with limited interuption I can't see how this will work. Opinions? Thoughts? Hot Yvonne pictures?

It must be shorter seasons for this to work. With Leno taking over the 10pm slots, I don't see how else this is going to work.

I hope the Leno "experiment" fails miserably for NBC.

Though I might tune in at 10 because I don't watch any other show at that time. But I'd love to see this fail as bad as the XFL.

Same here. While I would love for Chuck to be renewed, I will withhold jumping for joy until I see an official announcement. How could NBC think of cancelling chuck, and renewing the god awful Parks and Recreation?

Parks is a 30 min show that has Amy Poehler and the network things it might be the next Office. Besides that NBC has no other 30 minute show this pilot season (IIRC) and its either Parks or Kath and Kim. Now, if they cancel Earl for both I'll be pissed. That would be 3 out of 4 shows that have a female lead...very CW.

Re: Chuck reportedly renewed for 3rd season (Official announcement Monday)

Count me in as those who will be happy when there is an official announcement.

I was reading somewhere else that Subway has been very pleased with the results from their support of the show. I don't know if they don't have the figures yet, can't or won't, but I don't have any specific feedback on the campaign for the 27th. I may be tempted to stop by tomorrow again to support the show. Probably would be better not to though to highlight any spike last wee may have produced.

To round off I thought I'd go with something new (at least I hadn't seen it before):

Another source confirms Chuck being picked up:

NBC...if this is true a big for them. First FNL and then Chuck?
