I'm betting that either Damon or Carlton are a fan of It's Always Sunny.

It's not like they made him a regular character or anything though

I still don't get this. Would someone explain again? I'm still missing something. How did they get from 77 to 07 without the plane crash?

Yeah, I haven't minded the "characters not asking obvious questions" much during the 5 years, but what the hell? If Dogan wants Sawyer back so bad why not ask why and maybe the Losties will cooperate.

the bomb going off + the electromagnetic energy sent them back

I got that, but why 2007? The O6 were rescued, lived 3 years and went back to 77 on Ajira. If the nuke prevented the plane crash then why wouldn't it dump our Losties in '04? If the plane didn't crash, they weren't rescued and didn't live/experience those 3 years.

Here's how I understand it: The O6 leave for island on Ajira 316 in '07. They flash through time and end up on the island in '77. The drill at the Swan Station releases the electromagnetic energy in '77 and sends them back to '07 (on the island).

In the flash sideways, the bomb went off in '77 (not the electromagnetic energy), negating the crash of Oceanic 815 in '04, so Oceanic 815 lands in LA in '04.

It seemed that the Temple Others' fear of Smokey intensified big time when Hurley said that Jacob was dead.

bomb goes off, sinks island (i'm guessing), creates a new timeline for the losties in 04' where they don't crash

losties in '77 get sent back to their correct timeline in '07

I'm guessing Damon Lindelof got Mac on LOST... he tweeted this after the episode

One other thing. Rob McElhenney is the shiznit. A gentleman. An awesome actor. And the greatest Other who ever othered the island.

Twitter also revealed that this character actor also recently filmed a small cameo for Lost season 6....

Spoiler:
Samm Levine of Freaks and Geeks (and Inglourious Basterds) fame

Really hard to believe that Claire would get back in a cab with the crazy woman who just pointed a gun at her. Really hard to believe that Kate would risk getting caught to return a total stranger's bag. Really hard to believe that Kate would risk getting caught by accompanying a stranger into the maternity ward of a hospital, then hang around and HOLD HER HAND. IMPOSSIBLE to believe that Claire would hand over her credit card to the crazy woman who earlier pointed a gun at her. This crap ruined the episode.

Did you not notice Kate give a double take when she saw Jack? Things in this timeline aren't "right" as we know them. It seems she was drawn to Claire and vice versa. That's why she continued to help and Claire allowed her.

It's just possible that she may have mistrusted Claire's OB for precisely the same reasons.

I agree.

And when she named the baby Aaron, Kate said Why Aaron and Claire replied - I dont know, it just came out.

I think we will eventually find out these two timelines/realities are connected somehow

Another "surprise" appearance (Ethan) ruined by showing the actor's name in the opening credits.

Dogen was playing with a baseball. A baseball has 108 double stitches.

The button needed to be pushed every 108 minutes.

The numbers - 4+8+15+16+23+42=108

And no, I didnt catch that. Got it off Lostpedia.

She did a double take when Claire said Aaron as well. Maybe it's a deja vu feeling that they're getting but I think now Jack and Kate know something isn't right.

Re: LOST -- "What Kate Does" -- 02.09.2010

Good episode, though definitely felt more like a piece of a much bigger thing and less 'standalone' than in previous seasons. I know that means filler to some, but I liked it.

So this infection encroaching the heart thing that's happened to Sayid and Claire... can we assume its the same sickness that had Rousseau so convinced that her team weren't themselves after being dragged into the Temple? makes sense.

Actually quite like that after the 'plot plot plot' of Season 5, the writers aren't afraid to change up the pace and include some nice character moments like Sawyer on the dock.

I'm not sure what they've done with the credits this season, but I'm not noticing all the guest stars names when they appear, potentially spoiling surprises. The worst case was in the Season 3 finale when Walt's appearance was telegraphed. I was genuinely shocked when Ethan appeared onscreen -- maybe its something to do with timing (like, placing an important name with action on the screen to distract your attention) because I'm aware that for legal reasons they have to be billed at the front of the show.

At this point, I'm pretty much convinced that Dogan is really Ichiro Suzuki.

Damon Lindelof is a huge fan of It's Always Sunny, he guest moderated the It's Always Sunny panel at comic con '08.

It is more of a nod to BTTF IMO. They talked about BTTF 2 a lot during the podcasts, and in interviews, last year. Doesn't matter what movie it originally came from.

Yeah, when I saw his name, I thought the same thing.

OK episode. The bits with Dogen were great, as well as Sawyer's scene on the dock. Arzt's "Midnight Cowboy" reference made laugh pretty hard. Everything else was passable.

I've been sick of Kate for some time and was never a Claire fan, so my bias was quite heavy going in. Next week looks good because it's back to my favorite characters.
