HFP doesn't look at the actual "quality" of the filmmaking, they vote for what entertained them.
Hangover? Amateur filmmaking but funny and rewatchable. (500) Days of Summer? Professional but largely dull. And FWIW, Up in the Air was more of a comedy than 500DoS.

Again, you make no sense. And now you're just reaching. So make up your mind. Was this "rom com" trying to sucker the tweens into liking it? Or the douchebag hipsters? And since you're big on labels, what demographic were the producers of "The Hangover" aiming for?

Hangover's demo was pretty much anyone that enjoys brash "guy"/frat humor, and the box office reflected that, it's the same demo that turned Old School into a hit on video. It had a broad appeal. 500 Days of Summer was a very glossy indie flick, I wouldn't call it hipster even if the soundtrack skewed that way, but it had a somewhat narrow appeal. It was a chick flick for guys, not a hugely appealing genre to begin with.

If you have to pretend that I "make no sense" so your feeling don't get hurt, fine, but don't for a second pretend that it's much different than the typical Sandra Bullock pap. Just with younger actors and a hip soundtrack, and maybe less pratfalls...

My feelings don't get hurt!? LOL! Are you for real? I'm just trying to figure out just where the hell you're coming from. Because you my friend are all over the map. You don't hear me saying that "The Hangover" caters to numbskull simpletons. Why do you have to label the audience of "(500) Days"? Get over yourself.

My posts speak for themselves. If they don't make sense to you, that's your own deficiency, not mine. I wasn't so much labeling it's audience, as saying how it's no different than many of the forgettable rom-coms that inundate the multiplexes and why it's not award-worthy. If you don't think that's the type of movie it is, you're just fooling yourself.
