Avatar got the weakest amount of applause when the nominees were read, but Cameron doesn't give a shit.

Yeah, that whole speech was douchey. "Let's give us all a round of applause". Puke!
Yeah, I hope this doesn't represent the Oscars. "The Hurt Locker" or "Inglorious Basterds" deserve the gold. And I love "Avatar". But those other two are the best.

Because to me, it was typical Hollywood gloating. This was televised to millions of Americans, not just the people in the room.
So, yes Cameron you have the best job in the world. Cause the rest of us have to go to work tomorrow doing jobs we hate. Must be nice. Thanks for the reminder.

As someone who doesn't typically follow (or care about) the Golden Globes, I have to ask are the GG's generally that lame in picking film winners, or is it just that lackluster a year for movies in general? Sandra Bullock, Cameron, The Hangover, Avatar, Robert Downey (in spite of his good speech) are some really "meh" / safe / pop choices. Not that the Oscars are ever all that edgy in their choices, but a lot of the GG picks were just pretty blah, verging on People's Choice Award level.

Best Actor - George Clooney
Best Picture - Up in the Air
Best Director - Kathryn Bigelow
The only one I agreed with was Christoph Waltz and the Marty Scorsese award. There's still hope the Oscars will get it right but after last year... who knows.

Mine is simply "Thank you all for doing what you do,
Sincerely,
Nick (I'm unemployed and forced to stay home as a caregiver so I'm grateful to guys like Cameron and others who make a lot of entertaining film and television to enjoy when things get dull or frighteningly tense) Martin."
So I don't think he or anyone else up there who won an award is a douche.

Well Movies that people actually liked won this year. Big surprise they usually pick artsy movies that critics loved but aren't big hits or movies I think are overrated.

That being said, I laughed pretty hard while watching The Hangover, and Avatar ended up at the top of my Top 10 list for 2009, so I can't say I'm all up in arms over their GG wins.

I only caught bits and pieces of the show, but there's a lot of shit flying around the boards about Aniston coming off like a bitch. What'd I miss?
