And good news for The Middle. That show is still the best part of the lineup (IMO) and was the only one of the three to go up as the season progressed. No worries about AI killing MD or CT.
(In other news, it's likely Scrubs and Better off Ted are officially dead - McPherson says they're "obviously disappointed" in the numbers for SCRUBS, BETTER OFF TED). Personally, I can still see the back 9 for Scrubs going through just to 'finish' it off to make it more valuable for Syndication.

you sure about that about just The Middle going up in viewers? It's my recollection that Modern Family has gained viewers the past few episodes as well.

I only discovered and caught up with Ted over the last few weeks, but I was really bummed to see them burning the remaining episodes off 2/night recently
Great news about these 3 shows. I like them all, but I think Modern Family is the most inconsistent. I'm a big fan of Cougar Town and The Middle.

not surprised to see the wednesday night shows get picked up.
i kinda hope scrubs get cancelled. They shouldve just called this season "Scrubs: Med School" and have it be a first season for a spin-off, instead of it being the ninth season for the actual Scrubs show itself.

A special The Middle at 8pm scored just a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating, but in its regular 8:30 timeslot the show earned a 2.7 rating, up 13% from its last original regular timeslot episode and a new season high if it holds up in the finals.

'Modern Family,' 'Cougar Town,' 'The Middle' picked up

ABC has picked up all three of its new Wednesday-night comedies for next season.
"The Middle," "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town" will all be back for the 2010-11 season, ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson announced Tuesday (Jan. 12) at the TV Critics Association press tour.
McPherson also says that the current seasons of all three shows will have more than 22 episodes, which will help fill in the 8 o'clock Wednesday spot formerly occupied by "Hank."
The news is less good for the network's other comedies, "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted." McPherson says it's not the network's intent to burn them off -- despite double-running both on recent Tuesdsay nights. "We've obviously been disappointed" with the ratings for "Ted" and "Scrubs," but he says the network won't make a decision on their futures until later.
There's also a possibility that one of the Tuesday shows could fill in at 8 p.m. Wednesday for a time, although McPherson isn't sure "Scrubs" or "Ted" is compatible with the family-centric Wednesday series. The Alyssa Milano show "Romantically Challenged" is another contender for the spot; it's in production now.
More to come. ...

Scrubs has certainly run its course (for the last 3 or 4 years), but Better Off Ted still had a couple of good years left in it.
