Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

I was born in '69 and watched a lot of TV so far in my life. Hell I remember the early days of HBO and TMC and before MTV or cable had christian programing in its slot. Out of all the shows I've watched in my life including sentimental ones. I came to the conclusion that this was and still is The Best TV Show that has been aired so far.

Enjoy the ride!

Corinne continues to be annoying thruout Season 3 Ep. 9 (and possibly beyond .... no spoilers!) because in real life she's married to the CREATOR of the show (Shawn Ryan), and if he would fire her, she'd divorce him (possibly).

In other news of nepotism, Cassidy Mackey is played by Autumn Chiklis, daughter of the lead. I'm sure that had nothing to do with her getting and keeping the job.

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

Alright guys upto Season 4 episode 9

I am asking for only one bit of informational spoiler

Please dont tell me anything else

My question is

After Season 7, was the show Cancelled by the network or did it end on it's own accord ?

On its own accord. A satisfying, planned ending.

Shawn Ryan was not there for the end, though. They were finishing up during the early days of the writer's strike.

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

I watched all seven seasons for the first time in the beginning of 2009. One of my favorites now.

There were three "HOLY SHIT" moments for me (spoiled, because one is from season 5, and one is from season 7, so if you have not seen The Shield all the way through, DO NOT OPEN THESE SPOILERS (I warned you...)!

Spoiler:

1. Aceveda's forced blowjob.
2. The 'grenade in the lap'...I had no idea this was coming, and loved that character.
3. The 'family suicide' at the end of it all...gut wrenching.

And I absolutely loved seeing Dutch show up on Sons of Anarchy (even though it wasn't actually "Dutch", I think we all know it was Dutch).

My thoughts on the holy shit moments of the series in spoiler tags...

Spoiler:
I think killing Terry, Vic screwing over Ronnie in favor of his wife with ICE, and maybe what Shane did to Tavon join those three you identify. I think I'd put them in this order:

1) The grenade in the lap. I still can't believe Shane was capable of that. It's Lem.
2) Terry getting shot by Vic. This started it all off.
3) Aceveda getting mouth invaded.
4) Vic screwing over Ronnie and recounting in detail all his transgressions.
5) Family suicide.
6) Tavon.

The "sweet butter" scene is another holy shit moment, but that's for another reason.

ETA: The biggest holy shit moment aside from those involving the Strike Team has to be Dutch killing the cat.

Some more "HOLY SHIT" moments

Spoiler:
-Face to the hot stove.
-Angie getting shot.
-Vic confronting Emolia with a kniife to the throat.
-The undercover walking into the bar at the end of season 4.
-Tina in street clothes

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

I'm upto Season 5 the episode where at the end Lem gets arrested after Kavanagh finds Vic and Lem watching him and his psycho ex in the interrogation room.

Now this whole thing with Lem taking the brick of drugs. The CI who saw Lem take it also knew he gave it back so it could be returned to the dealer. So i don't really see how IAD has a case against Lem aside from not following procedure to the letter. He definitely can prove he didn't take the drugs to sell or for his own use.

That to me is a big plot hole. Other than that, the back and forth games between vic and the strike team and Kavanagh has been great. Corrine pissed me off spilling her beans about the 65K and so did Dani caving in about her relationship with Vic.

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

I think they have a big case against him because he was clearly tampering with the drugs for some purpose. I think you're right that he can probably convince them that it was for corrupt cop reasons and not to sell drugs, but he still gets a felony, probably some prison time, and fired for what they do have him on.

I believe Shawn Ryan wanted to wrap the show even before season 7, but FX talked him into additional episodes. And as I recall, FX themselves really s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d their airing of the last episodes. But the ending definitely wraps the series. Fear not.

True that. Her scenes are PAINFUL to watch because her acting is so bad.

Um as I recall, BOTH of the younger kids are diagnosed with autism. And I don't think ER nurses are rolling in it.

Kavanagh was just using Lem as a pawn to get to Vic. He blew up the charge out of proportion as a scare tactic.

Season 5 was brilliant because you have two men, Kavanagh and Vic who are masters at mental manipulation, going at each other. The writing is so good that you forget that Kavanagh is supposed to be the good guy. Forrest Whittaker has said that fans really hated him. lol

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the series. Season 5 finale is jaw dropping. Season 6 slows down a bit, but the final season is gut wrenching. A lot of people praise the Vic character, but I think Shane is more facinating and fun to watch.

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

Wow just watched the Season 5 finale where Shane kills Lem with a Grenade!

I knew what was gonna happen when Shane started acting weird. Performances by Walton and Kenny were amazing.

This one really hit home. When Vic and Shane killed Terry in the pilot, we didn't have any emotional investement into the characters, i mean who gives a toss about Terry. With Lem, obviously that's hugely different. Even with all the bad stuff they have done, this is the first one where you feel the victim is a true innocent. I won't look at Shane the same way again.

Im watching the season 5 extras and they are very interesting.

Please no Season 6 or 7 spoilers, but there is only one character i want to see totally taken down and that's Assevada.

I have to admit, Forrest Whiteker;s performance has been amazing. I truly loath the guy. Man was i cheering for Vic when he tackled Kavangh at the end

Now i have purposely avoided visiting imdb because i don't want any spoilers at all, but when i finish with the show and check it out, boy will i be pissed if i see it hasn't won any awards.

This is quality television of the highest order.

Even the minor characters have many layers and the fact that none of the original actors have to date (season 5 for me) chosen not to leave the show says a lot .

Still can't believe the amount of hot women Vic has banged !

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

your gonna be pissed, i think the only emmy it won was best show season 2 and Chicklis won season 1 actor at the globes. Outside of that nothin, also out side of i think writing or production awards, i don't think it was even nominated season 5-7 at either of the big award shows

Re: My Chronicles watching the SHIELD from scratch, previously unseen SPOILERS

Just finished Season 6 episode 3 where vic beats and kills the Salvadorian he thinks killed Lem.

The Kavanagh wrap up was a bit too abrupt. Kavanagh seemed to lose a heap of intelligence between seasons 5 and 6.

Still this season's looking good. Dutch and the hot rookie is an interesting storyline.

Just wait until you meet a certain Detective named Kevin Hiatt. He's going to ruffle some feathers.

Just finished Season 6, boy Shane loves playing out of his depth doesn't he !

Seeing Tina nekkid (even though i suspect it was a body double) was sweet

I hope Vic doesn't trust Ass invader too much. He should always have kept copies of everything as insurance

I actually liked Hyatt, sad to see him go. Ditto with Billings.

It was a body double. But a nice scene nevertheless.

Watching Season 7 ep 3

Man what is this with Vic continually trusting Ass invader !

First he gives him back the videotape which showed Ass beating the guy in the interrogation room, then he gives Ass access to the box !

Oh boy. Great way to go after The Shield. While both are great, I'd say The Wire is the better show. I'd watch that over and over.

Agreed. And I, too, watched The Wire after The Shield. Before seeing The Wire, I had The Shield up there as the best thing to ever have graced television. The Wire trumps that. Handily.
