I would guess yes. You wouldn't think they'd need the salary cut moves at this point with the popularity of the show. But maybe the new Sterling, Cooper, Draper, & Price will hire them eventually. It would have looked silly to have every character make the initial jump. They grabbed the key people and I think they'll figure out how to get Sal back somehow. I liked Kensey, though, but wouldn't argue he was was a shining star. All their poaches make perfect sense. Key account, key creative, key (only) tv/media, and the ultimate office manager - Joan.

She cared initially because to her it was further exemplification of Don's lying, secretive ways and helped justify her thoughts/feelings for Henry. She cares now because she sees it as leverage.

When Trudy came into the "office" and went right up to Peggy, I said to my wife, "Hi, I had your husbands baby." It wouldn't have made any sense in context of the show, but I would have laughed.

Oh, and for the first time, I really like Price and think he'll be a great addition to the new agency.

I would love to be in Price's shoes the day my company decides to fire me. To be all blaise - "alright, then - have a great day - bye!"

Don basically told him that was something he'd have to work for when they met in Pete's apartment.

Pete is a partner but doesn't get his name in the lobby. Draper left that as a "goal". Just like when Don was made partner he still didn't have his name on the agency. Joan answered the phone at the end as Sterling, Cooper, Draper & Price.

Re: Mad Men -- Season 3 Finale -- "Shut the Door, Have a Seat" -- 11/08/09

I liked how Don was able to pull off such a stunning move, despite everything going on with his family. Even though he's been a philandering man-whore, still glad he called her out on her new man.

Still, that was a second to the business shake-up. Loved Don & Roger walking in to Pete in his bathrobe, just the look on Roger's face, and I'm glad Don & Roger finally patched things up--that was getting old. I'm sure they'll be bringing Sal on board--they need an artist and he was too interesting a character to just be gone for good.

I wonder where/when they'll pick things up next season? Can't come soon enough...

I wonder if Pete and Peggy's baby will make another appearance on the show? Do we know who has the baby now?

I know Pete and Trudy are thinking of adopting. Will Pete deceive his wife, plan to adopt his own child, and not tell Trudy the baby's true origins?

Does Matthew Weiner have any idea when he wants the show to end?

The cat who did the Wire (forgot his name for the moment) had it in his head that "five seasons" would be enough for him to tell his stories. Even if the network had asked for a sixth, he would have refused.

I heard 5 somewhere. David Simon did The Wire and they only had 5, though they did contemplate a sixth on dealing with the increasing numbers of Hispanics migrating to the city. In the end he said they weren't educated enough in the in's & out's of the history, implications, etc. and didn't feel they could do it as well.

No mention of the scene where drunk Don confronts Betty about being a whore? It was hypocrisy on Don's part, but it was still rather cathartic for all the Betty-haters out there, of which I'm one.

I thought that also, but in reflection, I think she was called a whore not because of sleeping around but because she is obviously selling herself to anyone who can give her what she wants, materially.

Don made mention that Betty was setting herself up to be cushioned by her "suitor." I LOVED IT when Don said, "because you're so good and I'm so bad"

I mean, really! I'm sick of Betty - she thinks the grass is greener with some other guy?! Don was RIGHT! He did give her everything, and it wasn't like he was an "absentee landlord" - he was at his kids sports games, he was home (when he wasn't out scratching a dollar - or scratching someone's itch)...........foolish, and it twisted my stomach. It's true to life how some women, all of a sudden, the love is gone, and they hate you. Miserable, unloyal....

I don't think so. Sal was fired at the behest of Lucky Strike because its a 120+million dollar account. Nothing has really changed. They poached Lucky Strike from PPL and cant hire Sal at the risk of losing that account. Especially now when the few accounts they have are more important than ever.

Couldn't they hire Sal as a 'consultant?' The new firm need not reveal the names of their 'consultants.'

I think even the risk of it getting back to Lucky Strike, however unlikely is probably not worth it to them. They essentially have built their new firm around that account.

I'd forgotten the Sal/Lucky Strike problem. Will the old firm still exist, with Ken and the other guys left behind? If that's still going to be part of the show, I could see Sal rejoining them. Though they weren't main players, I'd hate to see all those guys just written off.

The drunken bedroom confrontation scene was awesome, and a little scary. It's not discounting Don's past wrongs to say that Betty deserved nearly all of what he said, drunk or not.

Re: drunken bedroom scene

When the baby woke up, did anyone see Don's face and think maybe he wondered for a moment if he was the baby's father? Then Betty said something about how no matter what, he'll always be the children's father. That was a great, subtle moment.

Does anyone thinks that they'll fast forward some months or even a couple of years, beginning next season? Like they did in Season Two?

I didn't even think about that. Good catch though.

I like it so much more when Don & Roger are getting along.

I have to give big props to Jon Hamm acting abilities. He has range. The last few episodes he has shown that he's a really good actor. Last night it was rage, I truly believed he was going to kill Betty there, his face showed so much hate.

Great show. I hate that we will have to wait until next August or September to find out what happens next and I wonder how much time will they skip.

I'm hoping that they will continue to run the new firm from the hotel room for a while and eventually move into a professional office during the next season.

Peter emphasizing that he was bringing over the Jai Alai account was funny.
