Didn't care for Jor-El, but loved how Clark finally opened up to Tess.

when Zod asked Jor-El to use dna to clone his son, that wasn't referring to Doomsday was it?

Can someone please give me a brief summary as to what happened tonight? My CW channel was off the air all night. Might want to spoiler so no one gets pissed. Thanks in advance.

I enjoyed this episode very much, and loved the way they used the imagery from the 70's Superman movie in the scenes with the Krypton Counsel, the civil war with Black Zero, etc. Very little soap, great explanation of Zod, the soldiers and everything else from before the destruction of Krypton.

Wow... that was some good TV. I couldn't believe I was watching Smallville halfway through. Like the poster above, loved the stuff used representing past Superman iterations. Julian Sands did a fine job as Jor-El and I'm getting more and more impressed with Callum Blue as Zod each week. Excellent season thus far.

Spoiler:
Wonder Twins, lol.

Re: Smallville -- "Kandor" -- 11/06/09

Guess this was the 1st of the 4 non-Lois episodes.

Thought this was pretty good. I agree I enjoyed the ode to the 70's Superman movie with the Kryptonian counsel and liked Julian Sands as Jor-El.

Thought it was cool that they fleshed out Zod's chararacter more.

Re: Smallville -- "Kandor" -- 11/06/09

Anybody else feel like this should have been a two-parter? It was good, but felt a little cut. Maybe it's because we didn't get much House of El interaction.

I was really impressed with the back story they wove there with Krypton, Zod and Kandor. A do a few lingering questions/issues:

1) So Doomsday was indeed Zod's son, but now I assume he was an attempted resurrection post Orb creation by Zod "I now hate you Jor-El"?

2) Wasn't Doomsday's mom around last year? She was in the phantom zone?? Does that go against what we saw tonight? I suppose he could have recreated her as well.

3) So the Orb wasn't exactly Kandor? I assume it's still out there and Kara is still looking for it?

I hope Lois brings some good next time we see her. Hopefully she'll be able to tell something is wrong with Clark. I think it would have made an interesting exchange between them if it had been her on porch with him at the end, just not knowing anything.

I suppose Jor-El's cubby has one of those databases in it? Probably could tell Zod how to get his powers back. However, I assumed his solar tower project was working towards that as well.

Thanks but with a 15 month old, I might not have time to back to this especially if the episode's not posted until after the weekend. If someone could just give me a quick update, I'd appreciate it. Did I miss much of importance? Sounds like it was a good episode.

Didn't like the "Oh, Lois left again" thing but looks like she'll be back next week. Glad it won't be like last season.

Alright, here's your recap courtesy of TV.com

Spoiler:

In a long series of flashbacks, we learn where the Kandorians came from Jor-El made clones of Zod and his friends, put them in the Orb, and sent them to Earth so that some Kryptonians would survive if the planet was destroyed He picked Zod's group because the general had interceded for Jor-El when he was threatened with execution for heresy Before the orb was sent off, Jor-El quarreled with Zod; because Zod wanted Jor-El to clone his dead son from a sample of hair, and Jor-El refused on ethical grounds.

Later, on Earth, Jor-El's clone revived first, and he exposed the entire group (including himself) to Blue Kryptonite so that they would lose their super-powers and not be a threat to humans.

In the "present", Jor-El (i.e., his clone) comes to the Kent farm, which he had visited years earlier Clark is away, but Chloe is there, and she brings Jor-El up to date Since he does not know what happened after the cloning, he learns for the first time that Krypton was destroyed.

Tess sends some thugs to kidnap Jor-El and bring him to the Luthor mansion She starts a devious plot, telling Zod that Jor-El is the mysterious, super-powered Blur while persuading Jor-El to play along to protect plot Zod is furious that Jor-El took away their super-powers, which he had planned to get power on Earth Zod figures out that the Blur is Jor-El's son, and pretends to let him go, hoping to trail him to the Blur.

Clark sees Jor-El coming across the field, but somebody has fatally stabbed him, and he dies in Clark's arms He asks Clark to "save Zod" in memory of their old friendship, but Clark tells Chloe that he can't afford to be merciful this time.

Chloe's surveillance footage shows that Jor-El retrieved some object from a hiding place in the house while she wasn't looking Clark and Chloe realize that they should search for this object before Tess or Zod find it Clark also wants to know who ordered his father killed: Zod, or a Kandorian underling acting on his own initiative.

Re: Smallville -- "Kandor" -- 11/06/09

GuessWho - I am aware of the comic fate of Kandor, but my point was I'm confused as to what's going on within the Smallville universe.

Also, am I missing something - all of a sudden a bunch of people over on TWOP seem to think that Clark died with Doomsday, but was resurrected as a clone. Sorry, but there is not evidence to support that. As much as this show pulls stuff of screen I don't buy that they'd do something that drastic, especially for half a season. Mainly because Clark got a little rough with Tess? We all know when his emotions take over Clark tips to the irrational side of things.

Am I the only one thinking that Smallville might do a drastic change to the Mythos and make Clark Zod's son instead? Clark and Zod look more alike than Jor-El to me.

I don't think they'd do that, because that would be a retcon of pretty much the entire series

But I wouldn't put it past them

Exclusive: 'Smallville' TV movie takes flight!
by Michael Ausiello

Spoiler:

I’ve got some big news for all my Super friends out there.

I’m hearing The CW has decided to package Smallville’s upcoming (and highly-anticipated) Justice Society-themed two-parter into a two-hour movie event airing on Jan. 29.

The Geoff Johns-penned episodes — titled “Society” and “Legends” and featuring such DC Comics stalwarts as Stargirl, Hawkman, and Dr. Fate — were originally designed to air separately. But, according to Smallville insiders, CW execs felt they could get more mileage out of combining them.

Oh, and if you thought this scoop was super, just wait. There’s another (even bigger) Smallville-related treat coming your way later today.

Wow!

What a great show.

That could have been part one of a movie for the theaters, and part two would have concluded their battle. Superman could have taken off his kid gloves and really gone to battle.

This is the best season of Smallville ever, I almost feel like I am watching a mini movie every week.

Keep it up!

Riley, that's great news. However, you mislead me thinking it was something extra beyond this season. I wonder what the other news is - S10 confirmation?
