I hope this is better than that description sounds! The track record so far leads me to believe it will be.

The way I see it, they had 6 episodes, only 1 was bad!

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Earth" -- 11/06/09

Here's a little more detailed description:

Spoiler:

General O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) wants Col. Young to implement a high-risk plan hatched by IOA scientists that could possibly return the Destiny crew to Earth. Elsewhere, Eli and Chloe use the communication stones to visit their loved ones, culminating in a trip to a club. Carlo Rota, Janelle Monáe Guest Star.

I think this version of Stargate has been a refreshing change of pace compared to the previous incarnations.

Solid episode but I was hoping they would use this as an excuse to stop using the communication stones.

So it's official, the senator's daughter is slut-tastic.

I'm surprised no one's commented on the slut-tastic final scene.

I watched all the episodes so far and i hate it. I'm a huge fan of Atlantis and Sg-1 but I think universe is boring and tedious.

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Earth" -- 11/06/09

I don't think it's fair to compare this to SG-A and SG-1. The tone of this version is alot darker and it's also heavily serialized. The "Light" episode from 2 weeks ago was probably one of the best episodes this franchise has ever produced. Except for bringing a couple of SG-1 cast members as guest stars and the Stargate theme, this is nothing at all like the other 2 versions. It also doesn't have the procedural cheese factor that the other 2 Stargates had at times.

Exactly they took what made the franchise fun and made it way too serious.

I also kind of like how they didn't forget about a lot of background story like the dead senator or that one guy being locked up.

Damn - Telford's an ass if he pretends to be husband. Really not liking him.

At least Eli knew he was in friend zone and saw it coming. Poor guy. Plus it's not like they set anybody else up for him on the ship.

I was impressed with the "theatrics" since I totally bought it hook line and sinker. Nice of the three to cut and run. Did I mention Telford's an ass?

I take it Greer punched out Telford? I certainly bet he had it coming. Did I mention he's an ass?

In my opinion, the "trips" back to Earth have been far and away the best part of SGU so far.

Yeah I was hating the Stones, but this week's Stone use was interesting. Even without the sexy time, they threw us some real "What would you do if you could use the Stones/Stones can cause some real problems in your personal life" moments.

Rush is a bit of a douche but he's still better than LDF's character.

What if Telford and Emily Young were having an affair and that's why Mrs. Young had no problem with Col. Young being in someone else's body? Besides, Col. Young has a history with T.J. Damn, this sounds more like a soap than a typical Stargate plot.

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Earth" -- 11/06/09

Wow, this show is surprising the hell out of me. I love SG1 but you have to admit that the formula was becoming (became) extremely stale. We had 14+years of that, why not try something new? It was awesome how Young stood up to Oneill, especially at the end and said basically we control the stones and its my way now. Period.

That bit of acting Lou Diamond did when he shifted into sex and then back onto the ship was
He really nailed it for me.

^ Agreed - "Wth was that?! Awkward!"

Although if you're Young (or any of them) why would go have sex (get trashed, etc.) in somebody elses body? Especially if you're the wife - just weird.

Re: Stargate Universe -- "Earth" -- 11/06/09

^^^ Agree Wolf 359.

The formula with the self contained plots and the new Wraith attacks of the week or crisis of the week was indeed getting really old. I'm really glad the writers/producers of SG: U decided to go with something different and make a long running story arc and change the overall theme/tone of the show.

What are you even saying? "Especially if you're the wife?" doesn't make sense since she wasn't in someone else's body. Her having sex with her husband while he's in someone else's body IS weird. But if you found them attractive, it'd be kind of kinky and exciting and not really cheating.

Granted, the military letting them roam about in someone else's body is just dumb. But acknowledging that, why wouldn't you go out in someone else's body that's way cuter and more fit (Eli)? That makes perfect sense. Plus, if you're around people that you know (the chick), you can see how they really think and feel about you and see them outside the familiar boundaries of your friendships. Although, I would be pretty mad if someone got trashed in my body and had casual sex which Eli prob. would have if this were a better show.

But, it has "Stargate" in the title. Hard not to compare.

if Telford is pretending he's in deep shit when, for example, 3 weeks from now Young goes to visit her for the first time in 3 weeks and she talks about just having seen him two days ago
