Re: Big Bang Theory -- "The Cornhusker Vortex" -- 11/2/09

So far, this episode is pretty meh. I was expecting a physicist trying to explain the joys of football to come out funnier.

That said, I want to go kite fighting now.

Another disappointing episode. The Penny/Leonard thing just does not work.

Re: Big Bang Theory -- "The Cornhusker Vortex" -- 11/2/09

Once he was in Penny's apartment I thought Sheldon might stick around to watch the football game and demonstrate his knowledge of the game -- I guess not.

In college my dorm floor gathered in the basement lobby to watch our basketball team play a big game. One of the guys watching clearly had no understanding of the game and tried to fit in like Leonard by constantly calling for fouls, etc. It was very annoying and someone finally had to ask him to leave.

"If you want to blend in with Penny's friends I think looking like an idiot would be the perfect camouflage"

The football story was decent until he went over to watch the game, the rest was dull.

Penny should only wear tight t-shirts on the show.

I don't know how many of you read Lorre's "vanity cards" at the end of his shows but last night's had a joke that was so bad it actually made me laugh out loud:

A guy goes into a dentist's office. The dentist says, "How can I help you?"

The guy says, "I'm a moth."

The dentist says, "Excuse me?"

The guy says again, "I'm a moth."

The dentist says, "I think maybe you should be seeing a psychiatrist, not a dentist."

The guy says, "I saw a psychiatrist."

The dentist says, "So what are you doing here?"

The guy says, "Your light was on."

I'm surprised they didn't refer back to the Kite Runner more with the kite fighting.

I agree that the episode was pretty weak, but I enjoyed seeing Raj step out of the shadows for a change. He always makes me laugh and I think he's the most underrated actor/character on this show.

Penny's football-watching attire was the only good part of the episode.

Norm Macdonald told this joke on Conan's show a few weeks ago, but managed to stretch it out to about 15 minutes....

Not that great of an episode.
I think Howard's outfits are getting brighter. That blue/green one almost blew my TV set out.

Raj brought the main funny this week.

And, uh, I'm pretty positive there's no red challenge flag in college football.

I don't understand how a supposed genius like Leonard can't absorb a "for Dummies" book in under an hour.

It could have been intentional, further showing Leonard's misunderstanding of football. There has got to be a ton of people on the crew, not to mention the guys in the apartment, that would know that, but maybe not.
