Couldnt Morris Chestnut just have taken HIMSELF to the press. Im pretty sure his resistance would be bolstered by adding 6 BILLION HUMANS TO HIS SIDE!

All you guys talkin' 'bout what you would have done...

If a Reptilian Alien came at you swinging a knife like a Ninja you'd all shit in your pants then get cut by said alien.

you didn't actually read what I posted?
I was wondering why after the aliens were dead they couldn't have been shown to the press or someone as proof of an invasion.

And it would be said to be an elaborate hoax concocted by scientists to discredit the "peaceful" Visitors.

My point is everyone is saying what they would do and I'm saying they wouldn't do it.

What kind of resistance could we organize? Something tells me they can wipe us out. At the very least retreat into space and pick us off.

Resistance? I'd lock my doors and see how high I could get my gamerscore before the inevitable.

It may be over the top, but I do believe he's genuine. The first "V" was dedicated to resistance fighters, so it's obviously something he feels strongly about. It certainly had a double meaning for the original; whether that was Johnson's intent or not, he was aware of it. But no one called them the "V"s in the original miniseries. I do see his point about them throwing it around on the new show like some wannabe hip lingo.

The clue is that they "cloned" the skin. So you kill off one, the clone of the skin will still exist and get put on another alien.

So are they Digitally Altering Morena's face in some scenes or is she just a very good actress? There are times when her face has a very weird unnatural look to it. That creepy, but still hot, half smirk/smile she does is disturbing.

Finally watched this. My sentiments exactly.

The original did a much better job of laying out the aliens as being benevolent and then the reveal of their true nature was huge and shocking. This was pretty anti-climactic.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

So, Morena Baccarin's Anna is Diana. (Even a similar name.) Scott Wolf is Kristine Walsh. Morris Chestnut is Martin. Elizabeth Mitchell's son seems to be a combination of Daniel Bernstein and Robin Maxwell. And Elizabeth Mitchell, herself, must be more or less akin to Mike Donovan or Juliet Parrish.

The arrival of the mothership and the first meeting between humans and the Visitors at the top of the UN building in 1983 had an epic quality, accompanied by a nearly cinematic score. I felt none of that with the cognate moments here. It was little more than a rehash of Independence Day, complete with the giant shadow crawling over the landscape.

The people applauding after Anna gives her opening speech was laughable. We live in a cynical age: We don't witness a space ship fly over the city, a talking head give us an address "of peace," and buy it en masse.

The special effects were decent-- the best of them being the mothership-- but the shuttle was an obvious piece of CGI and had an unappealing design compared to that of the original. So, too, with the mothership, itself.

As others have said, they crammed too much into the pilot. Would have been more effective to draw everything out over the first couple episodes, maybe even these first four in November with a cliffhanger that ends on the revelation of who "the V's" really are. And not in such anti-climactic fashion, as Jadzia observed.

It has some interesting ideas, even if the execution is sloppy in places, and I'll keep watching. But it doesn't hold a candle to Kenneth Johnson's work. I would much rather see him be able to recreate that like he's been wanting to do. With all the old TV shows being re-imagined on the big screen, I'm amazed no studio has yet backed him.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Finally watched it today. Liked it a lot, will tune in for more. Agreed about it feeling rushed, and there's a whole "glossy" feeling to the show -- the actors, the sets, the CGI, everything -- that makes it feel highly contrived and unnatural. Kind of like how nothing on "Smallville" ever feels even REMOTELY connected to the real world.

Regardless, I still enjoyed it. Hope it can sustain. Oh and I agree with the common sentiment about Scott Wolf: he is fucking terrible. But he's been fucking terrible in everything I've ever seen him in. Which, thankfully, does not include a Speedo.

Isn't Sean Hannity dead?

(everything else about the show has been said ... except that I expect Wash to become the new Martin)

Did anybody else watch this on ABC.com (or Hulu)? Did you take the survey focused on the 4-day delay window? I'll have to wait till Saturday to watch episode 2!

Dead Martin was replaced by his brother Phillip.

This was my groan-out-loud moment... that and the "universal healthcare" joke. And the whole "aliens are responsible for the economy, the wars, etc" reveal.

I guess they needed that badly cgi'd plane to show that the government did try to mount some kind of reaction, which didn't work. That scene was actually better than the one that followed where mom hops the fence and the son is standing right there, easy to find.

I agree with whoever was complaining about the "annoying kids" that they seem to insert in every show. I complained about them in Invasion and Surface and I'll complain about them again. I realize they're needed to move the plot along, but ugh. Also, how old is the son supposed to be?

Otherwise, pilot was enjoyable, though it took me a week to finally get around to watching it. I didn't realize they were only going to air four eps, then hiatus.
