Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

It's got a tough timeslot. It's competing against NCIS, which has been getting well over 20M viewers a week and The Biggest Loser, which already has a following.

And when it returns after the Olympics it'll be up against Idol as well.

That's where I remember it .. High School we had to read Childhood's End. The cover was a giant floating spaceship over a city.

LOL I'm surprised at the money they've thrown behind this show which seems destined to fail. Tons of TV ads, print ads, billboards, etc--and then they'll show 4 episodes, put it on haitus until forever and then rerelease it in a super-tough timeslot. Geez.

This show looks great!

Hopefully it can be a Battlestar Galactica replacement with LOST vibes. lol. Oh we can hope.

If you'd read Childhood's End, you'd know that it's actually our collective unconscious seeing the end of the world.

Scott Rosenbaum, who was an Executive Producer on Chuck, is now taking over as Showrunner.

And just to confirm, they have only shot the 4 episodes that will air this month. They will resume production on episodes 5-13 in January.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

I'm sure the first 4 episodes will be very good and it'll end on a huge cliffhanger to make people interested enough to wait until March. That alone might be worth watching, just to see how hard they try.

They should have had Kenneth Johnson involved from the start.

The hiatus also allows for Elizabeth Mitchell to head to Oahu for Lost. I don't think she's be able to do V and Lost at the same time.

Lost is still in production. They are going to be in production well into the new year.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Warning: there's also a Firefly/Serenity spoiler in here too. It's 2 spoilers in 1!

Spoiler:
Wow that's the second science fiction show in a row where Alan Tudyk has ended up with a sharp object through his midsection!

Also,

Spoiler:
Wow, universal health care, hope/change...is Obama a secret lizard?

And(original V series spoiler + They Live spoiler)

Spoiler:
Seems like it is a big divergence from the original series that you can't easily detect an alien without carving open someone's skull
If they have to do surgery before every resistance meeting, it's really gonna slow things down. Maybe they'll get alien detecting sunglasses like in They Live.

I assume ABC will have an encore later this week? I didn't realize it was on tonight and hadn't set the DVR to record it.

I really enjoyed it. Some nice throwbacks to the original. Is it too much to want an Ironside cameo though

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

So...does this mean Inara and Wash were conspiring against the rest of the crew of Serenity?

Quite impressed. This show benefits greatly from having some top notch FX, how long those will sustain the series has yet to be seen, but they have already owned the original in that department. So tell me: are we to assume at this point that Visitor sleeper cells are like the Cylons on BG, where they don't know what they are until activated?

I'm expecting Marc Singer to show up down the road.

Spoiler:
Probably as Erica's ex.

I don't know... if Chestnut's character is to be believed, the V sleeper cells already know what's going on; it's some that have defected to the human side.
