it's set to record, but I have little hopes for this show... and I'm one of the few who actually sorta liked Testees.

FX original series?

Created by Jeff Schaffer?

Mumblecore sensation Mark Duplass as lead?

I'll be watching, but this is an FX comedy that's not titled It's Always Sunny...; so I give it one season.

they are also replaying this 3x after premiere, so if you can't catch it tonight, you can get it later.

That song was great

"And then your dad was so excited to get inside your mom that he forgot to put a condom on"

"Tim Brady motherfuckers"

Looks like Pete can kiss his streak goodbye with Forte as his 1st pick

I still remember Starved and Sunny premiering back to back. F/X touted the former as a hot new show and the latter was kind of tossed out there with little fanfare. Starved was okay, but I'm so glad Sunny reigned supreme.

Well, it's raunchy. So raunchy that it comes close to funny a couple of times.

I'll probably be back next week, but that's mostly because It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia puts me in such a great mood I'd just about watch anything.

Re: The League *Series Premiere* - "The Draft" - 10/29/09

I thought the episode had it's moments, but all of them were during the birthday party segment.

I really enjoyed the gag that they used the children at the birthday party to pick the draft order. Loved the song Taco preformed at the birthday party too. I'd download a full version of that if made available.

I'll be around for week two, but my original feeling still stands. We won't see this for a second season unless some miracle happens.

I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in Fantasy Football. I get the concept of it but have no interest in playing it.

The previews have made it look decently funny, but will my lack of FF caring affect it?

Re: The League *Series Premiere* - "The Draft" - 10/29/09

I thought the first episode was ok.

I liked the side-bar negotiations -
"what just happened?"

"you get 5 years and I just lost Adrian Peterson is just what happened. You just had to go rob 3 liquor stores didn't you?! Just keep it to one! I stole a Kit Kat last week...nobody knows! You keep it small!!"

LOL

I didn't see any promos for this show until I saw the episode so that whole negotiation was hilarious.

I hope this show does well but my hesitation is that there's only so much you can do with a show about fantasy sports. I hope that we get introduced to more players in the league. As i'm sure all fantasy players know of a girl that doesn't know a thing about football but is dominating all the guys. But aside from fantasy football, I guess they could venture out into fantasy baseball or basketball if any future season get picked up.

I'm hoping to be surprised by this show, otherwise it will probably be a one and done show.

Ha ha, tell me about it. I had the 4th pick in my draft and took forte (although he has had 2 GREAT games sprinkled among the turds). In fact, Pete's top 2 picks were the same as mine, and my 3rd and 4th round picks were one off on their board.

So i think that speaks to the accuracy of their FF discussions. It helps it to feel like it's not just a shameless capitalization of a popular trend in culture.

That being said, two things were glaring FF-wise.

1) Right in the middle of their draft board, clear as day to the viewer, was JACOB Hester as like an 8th round pick. They probably meant to put Devin Hester, but still, pretty ridiculous.

2) Later in the show, Kroll is asking the kid FF genius which Tight End to take, Gates or Shockey. Um, what? How is that even a debate?

So aside from those two things, i thought their portrayal of Fantasy Football was great (loved Scheer's character saying Tim Brady and drafting Keyshawn Johnson).

As far as the rest of the show, it's definitely a raunchy guy's comedy, and i like that. I think this will pair nicely with Always Sunny.

I highly doubt they'd venture out into any other fantasy sport. If the show does happen to warrant future seasons, they would probably keep the Sunny line of scheduling, where each season premiere is roughly nine or ten months after the previous season finale.

So each season would be able to deal with fantasy football, because each season would air in the fall.

I liked it a lot. I didn't understand the rating for the show though. TV-MA for Adult Language and Violence???. Also contains nudity??? I didn't see any nudity.

There was the photo of the naked guy in line at the ATM.

But if that happens, then everything would be so repetitive. Not much changes in terms of player rankings except for a couple of players having career years and a few players under-performing (...I'm looking at you Forte and Slaton). At least for the next couple of years, Adrian Peterson would be #1.

I noticed the same thing. Obviously we're nitpicking here but out of curiosity I paused the DVR to see who was drafting where. Most of it was true to form but there were some odd ones thrown in there.

Yeah the Shockey vs. Gates arguement completely threw me off. Really? Shockey or Gates? You could easily change Shockey to Gonzalez and you'd have a much better argument that didn't seem out of place. I want to say that the writer could be a big Shockey fan but who the fuck is a Shockey fan?

I loved the Keyshawn Johnson draft. Every FF player knows a guy that makes dumb decisions at the draft. Great moment when he figured out that he was talking about Chad Johnson and then the two guys come back with "Ochocinco?".

I'm sure we'll have a scene where someone tries to screw that guy with a bad trade that will lead to a veto debate.
