Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

Flash Forward

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Mark, Demetri and Wedeck try to link the attack on Janis to an attack on them; Olivia confronts Mark about his flash-forward; Demetri and Gough track a clue that was foreshadowed in Mark's flash-forward; Lloyd's son Dylan goes missing from the hospital; Simon contacts a reluctant acquaintance.

Lots of bitching the last few weeks. I do have to say that this week's episode title is really stupid. I hope the episode explains it.

Hope things pick up. The past 2 weeks have been pretty boring.

Hopefully it will get better with Dominic Monaghan being in an episode more than two seconds!

Daphne!!! (True Blood)

I'm watching this until Parks and Recreation comes on then I'll catch the rest on Hulu.

That's who she was! I couldn't place her.

Meh episode.

Well you got about 2 minutes this week

This ep was better than the last two, but that's not saying much.

There are just enough breaks in logic with this show to bug me. I'm talking about little things. Who sang the cover of the Bowie tune? Awful.

I liked this episode. I loved the awkwardness of the scene where the British guy ends up at Mark's house and Olivia walks in. Interesting to see that all come to a head.

This show does just enough to keep me hanging on, but if it disappeared I wouldn't miss it.

Very, very minor actor spoiler from the preview:
Spoiler:
I noticed Battlestar Galactica's Leoben (Callum Keith Rennie) in there for a split second. He's my new man crush, like Michael Biehn before him.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

The show is just interesting enough that I'm still watching, though I've considered dropping it from halfway through the first episode. Some of the dialogue is hokey and dreadful, like Olivia's "live for the moment" speech. And Sonya Walger is becoming really annoying -- bugging your eyes is not acting. There was no reason for Olivia to presume that Lloyd's seeing her house would make everything "click" for him as he wouldn't necessarily have had a different viewpoint version of her vision.
For Lloyd to presume he was in her vision makes more sense since he put together that's why she was acting awkward around him. Still, this "triangle" is more interesting than the other characters.

If they're going to have Sonya Walger in a show, why cant they make her look hotter (like they do on that HBO show where she's naked half the time). Its not like her acting is so special. Might keep me tuned in ...

Is this show worth watching? I have all 6 episodes aired so far on my DVR, but I have no interest in watching (unless you tell me I'm missing out on something). This is the first and only time I've ever taped so many episodes of a show that I've never seen.

Eh, this was another weak episode although I did enjoy last week's. Still dragging along with some aspects of the Mosaic investigation like the Somalia blackout and that the Stanford Scientists knew what happened. At least next week looks to be a major improvement.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

I thought this episode was very lackluster. I think what it's missing is the surprise factor Lost had early on. Lost was the text book example of making viewers believe one thing was going to happen and something else entirely happened and you sat there wondering what the hell you just saw and you had to watch again. In Flash Forward, there are no genuine surprises. The endings they have that are supposed to be surprising really aren't.

Like others I am on the fence about giving up on this show entirely. Seriously, the only thing keeping me watching is the fact that Parks and Recreation is on after Community so I'd have nothing to watch after Community if I gave up on this show. If only NBC had a tad stronger line up Thursday night...

I would at least try episode 1 to see if you like it. It's pretty heavily serialized since it revolves around a certain day next year. I'm enjoying it, although alot of the posters here seem to be frustrated with the plot not moving along fast enough. However, that can be attributed to the show getting a 25 episode order, so some rough spots and filler episodes can be expected.

OK. I was actually joking when I predicted this, but a win is a win.

The only problem with this advice is episode 1 kicked all kinds of ass. Everything since then has been passable. I'm still watching it week to week but I think episode 1 isn't very representative of the series so far.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

Joseph Fiennes makes some awkwardly funny facial expressions when he tries to act angry... and his voice goes all "Michael Scofield" and he starts whispering his lines.

and who the hell is in charge of selecting the music for this show? The songs from last week's gunfight and the chase scene with the masked guy should be enough to get anyone immediately fired.

And he likes keeping his head down with his eyes looking up at whomever he's shooting daggers at. It's like the only method of acting he knows.

Not sure it's possible to make her look hot at all. She's nothing special to look at. I enjoyed her acting on Lost a lot more than on this show.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

Just watched this, and judging by the fact that this thread is still one page, it's not getting anyone too excited.

I still enjoy it, though as others have said, the first episode was SO good that the rest have been passable by comparison.

I was really hoping the woman agent was going to die. We have yet to see anyone "buck" their flash forward and that would have amped up the stakes.

LOVED he scene where Mark, Olivia and the Brit show up at Mark's house at the same time.

Then HATED where a scene later Olivia and Mark have it out about their distrust for one another...about 10 minutes after they had vowed their trust to one another. Just bad pacing there made it seem forced.

I'll keep tuning in, but I just hope this stays entertaining.

Re: Flash Forward -- "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps" -- 10/29/09

this series has turned out to be just OK for me. Not "must see" every Thursday (I don't mind catching up on Hulu), which is odd for me since I love serial dramas.

Worst episode yet. They didn't progress anything until the last minute of the show.

Well, they did get Mark, Olivia and the Brit together half way through. And they answered the question about the blue hand on the board, as well as another investigation that they knew was going to start. I thought they progressed pretty well this time.
