The competition begins Tuesday, Oct. 27 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) when the Top 20 dance for the judges and America on the season’s first two-hour performance show. Statement from The Bell Family:

Billy's family would like to thank all of the fans that came out to show their support for Billy this season. It has been an amazing experience for all of us and has really meant a lot to Billy. We feel like Billy made it through all of the tough auditions and now that the fun was beginning, he has to leave the show. We were all very disappointed when we heard the news and Billy was devastated when his doctors told the show that if he continued to dance on the show before he recovered, he could possibly die. It will take several weeks for him to recover and as a result, he will be unable to return to Juilliard as of right now. We are hoping he will be able to return in the Spring. Billy is still quite ill but was released from the hospital today. He's feeling better but still needs to rest.

As of right now, Billy is hoping to re-audition for Season 7. He really enjoyed working with the show and had a lot of fun. Although he is sad that he will not be a part of Season 6, he hopes that the producers will allow him to return for the next season. If you would like to wish Billy a speedy recovery, I'm sure he would appreciate it. You can do so by posting on the facebook fan page or his facebook.

Not sure what the illness is, but it sounds serious.

I tried to find out what Billy Bell's illness is, couldn't find anything. But I did run across an interesting piece of trivia - he and Season 6 winner, Jeanine Mason, were dance partners in competitions at their local dance studio (Focal Point Dance Studio).

Ariana was a good dancer but poor facial expression. And Brandon, I know he's Billy Bell's replacement, but that's all I know about him.

And I got both right in the poll! Woohoo! Then again, I just voted... and I'm the only one who voted in the poll.

Guess Russell won't last long, I thought Peter was weak, too. Thought Jacob was good.

I dunno about Nigel asking FOX to change the rules to let that guy back, guess he said that to soften the hit.

I absolutely hate the stage and crazy lighting, esp. the distracting 3-2-1 on the solos.

Don't remember everything but I think about 2 or 3 were good dances, while the rest were ok.

Can't stand the changes that they've made all the way around. It almost seems like the same show... but not really. It's trying to be bigger than it is.

I'm not liking it.

But it's SYTYCD, so I will stick with it until it's canceled.

Gotta love the corporate synergy of them dancing to a song from Glee.

I am hoping the judges put Russell in the bottom 2 this week in order to make sure he gets votes next week. He's really the only contestant I know by name already and I am rooting for him.

I'm liking what I see when Kathryn dances, fun hip-hop from her and Legacy.

That disco number was sloppy, but so energetic, and dangerous for Mollee and Nathan.

Victor's a bit too vanity-challenged, not liking the vibe from him, and Bianca's will end up trying too hard when she needs to make it look too easy.

Jakob is a freak, let's hope Ashleigh can keep up with him.

Ryan and Ellenore make for an odd looking couple in spots, plus I wonder if Ashleigh is weird out by Ellenore's hand on Ryan's abs during the judges' comments?

Russell drew a couple of bad nuggets with a ballroom number, but there was no way he was going home.

Pauline and Brandon looked cute together, but their number wasn't strong enough, and Brandon was sent home in short once again.

Ariana and Peter were another odd looking couple for their hip-hop number, and you knew Ariana was a goner when you stacked her up against the rest of the gals.

Philip and Channing had zero chemistry. Channing is a physically imposing dancer, it could present some problems when lifts and other flips and tricky manuevers are required.

Kevin and Karen was 1/2 of a good cha-cha. Too much mugging for the crowd by Kevin turned me off early in the number, don't see Kevin hanging around long. It'll be interesting to see Karen tackle contemporary or hip-hop.

So... what happens if Noelle can't return next week?

Will Russell dance with a choreographer again and no girl is eliminated, or does Ariana come back as Russell's partner and then one girl is eliminated?

My guess is the later. They did the same thing in Season 4 when Jessica broke her ribs (iirc) and they brought in Comfort Fedoke who had been eliminated the week earlier.

By the way, went to see the tour of last seasons top 10 in Miami! It included Phillip and Caitlin. It was an amazing show and Phillip brought the house down!
