Sharpen your pitch forks and oil those torches.

According to LOST Executive Producer Carlton Cuse, ABC will air the first few episodes of Season 6 in January and then return to the schedule after the Winter Olympics in early March.

Since it is the last season, people are either gonna watch or they aren't. I doubt it will have much effect on the number of viewers.

That sucks. Even if they had played it during the Winter Olympics, I would have just DVRed it and I'm sure most everyone else would. They need to change the whole ratings collection system.

Wow, between V and LOST, the Olympics are really messing with some shows. I doubt it'll affect LOST too much as most people who would be watching will watch regardless.

I watch a little bit of the Winter Olympics, but that makes no sense. Why would you want to pull a show for that long for an event that lasts only 16 days and isn't even on ABC?
Season 6 is 18 episodes.
If it airs in the 1st full week of January, they will be able to get 4 episodes aired.
But, if it comes back say in the 1st week of March, they run the risk of running the show past May sweeps and going into June. They simply can't air 14 episodes from March until May sweeps without having a few weeks air 2 episodes.

Okay, I'm beginning to think this story may be bogus. It supposedly originated off a blog entry from the Harvard University Arts department, where Cuse supposedly spoke at recently.
However, I visited that site and the entry doesn't exist.
Unless ABC or a credible Hollywood publication confirms this, let's just look at this as a rumor.

Yeah, but what if the first episode and last episode are 2 hours? Then you're only looking at eating up 16 weeks.

I don't know if that is much help in determining the official scheduling dates.
Chris
I have lots of questions but Damon won't answer them (and I wouldn't want to spoil anything anyway). Can he at least tell us when the season premiere will be? Joshua H.
Honest to God, they haven't given us a date yet. I don't even know what night it's going to be on. We've been on Wednesday at 9 for awhile, but now ABC's comedies are actually working. And I actually like Modern Family and Cougar Town, so I'm not sure that they'll move them.
I don't know what it means for us, but all I've ever heard is mid-to-late January. We're doing 18 hours -- two-hour premiere, two-hour finale -- so if we end in mid-May, we can't premiere any later than late January.
