Heroes -- "Acceptance" -- 10/05/09

Heroes

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Hiro rescues strangers as a means of distraction from his own peril; Angela tentatively guides Nathan through his past; and Tracy decides to make a splash in her efforts to get her job back.

You know I have been pleasantly surprised. The 1st 3 hours of this season haven't been horrible. I think Robert Knepper has been a good addition to the show...too bad it's too little too late. I don't know what the deal is with the deaf chick yet.

Yeah, the first two weeks were good.

But, based in the synopsis, tonight's episode doesn't sound too good.

Three characters and stories I don't care about. Damn, I was hoping something good would be following last weeks solid effort. Unless Tracy is trying to get Nikki's old job back.

The Hiro storyline was awful. Everything else was "meh".

The Nathan stuff was a bit boring but I enjoyed the rest. I like that they're going for a Tracy/Noah team-up.

So Hiro cant control his powers, yet hes able to go back in time dozens of times to the precise moment in time when the dude faxes his ass?

Re: Heroes -- "Acceptance" -- 10/05/09

Fair episodes considering it covered mainly characters I don't care for much. Noah stuff was decent, he'll help Peter after all and possibly with Tracy. I didn't mind the Nathan stuff, he was actually a good guy trying to figure stuff out, and that woman arranged for his death as revenge for her daughter's death. From the preview it looks like Sylar will wake up with his own body but clueless about who he is. So is this the end of Nathan? Hiro's stuff was weak, clearly Kring and co have no idea what people want from Hiro.

Bryan Fuller wrote this episode.

Did he write the previous 2 shows?

I think what they were attempting to show was that while he can't consciously control where he goes that the "freak out" of failing to save someone who commits suicide in front of him causes an involuntary invocation of his power sending him to the point where things "went wrong". While this was rather silly, it does resolve some issues with Hiro. He seems to now realize that his powers are not necessarily intended or useful for mucking around in the past (there have been other "time travel" stories that show that changes made leave "scars" in time but that nature eventually repairs itself and the results are the same - hence Hiro realizes that getting the guy to own and admit the mistake and move on with life in the present is the only way to genuinely change the future). That *POP* we heard in his head right before he disappeared may mean something is "fixed"?

Like the whole ending thing with Bennet that changes his own mine. But the carnival folks seem to be barely sprinkled in. I wish we could know more about them sooner.

Looks like Mohinder is essentially being written out which is fine by me.

The Tracy storyline had me confused. She's excited, she's abitious, she gets what she wants, then realizes it ISN'T what she wants and gets "drippy" then she's back to ballbuster. WTF?

The Nathan stuff was such a goofy way to get him "bumped off" for Sylar's return. I still think killing Nathan last season was a huge mistake..

enjoyed the episode despite it being all over the place.

didn't care much for hiro's story and learned to tune it out. so that didn't really bother me.

surprisingly, i enjoyed tracy and nathan's plotlines.

saw the ending coming.

How the mighty have fallen. 15 posts after the show has aired? Wow... I hope NBC is in "Acceptance" mode themselves over this show.

i wonder how much moving the show to 7pm (CT) hurts ratings.

Nearly everyone here DVRs it anyway. The lack of activity in the thread is a pretty indicative sign of the drop-off. Misleading even because I haven't seen this episode or the 6 or 7 before it and I account for 11% of the posts here.

Re: Heroes -- "Acceptance" -- 10/05/09

good point about DVRs. that might be more applicable to folks here.

but there are still a good number of people that don't have it. so i wonder how ratings have been affected with the time change.

do ratings factor in stuff like DVRs and online viewing?

but you're right. the activity in heroes threads certainly have gotten smaller.

Hiro's version of TNG's "Cause and Effect" was just boring and unoriginal.

I just can't figure out what's going on with the Circus Gang to care at this point. Is he trying to form a Brotherhood of Evil Mutants?

And 3 episodes in and we get Sylar back. Surprised Ma Petrelli didn't foresee that coming from Swoozie.

So does Peter retain powers now? I thought he could only tap one at a time? Or is it more focused now instead of a casual touch?

They did a crap job putting together the roof scenes. There would be a shot of him with toner on his face, next shot his face would be clean, then he'd have toner again.

The Nathan story was sort of interesting

I actually liked the episode. Not as good as the first two, but does anyone remembers the previous two seasons? This episode was better that almost anything in those seasons.

Now I wonder what will happen with Nathan. Does that actor has a new show?

I won't watch it live, don't have the time on Monday nights that early... but I will continue to watch it on Hulu.

It was an okay ep... I like the Nathan/Sylar stuff.

Re: Heroes -- "Acceptance" -- 10/05/09

Even though I hate the Sylar/Nathan storyline I really enjoyed Nathan's story in this ep once I forgot about the Sylar angle. I think they could really develop then Nathan character if they played him as 100% strait Nathan plus a few Sylar powers, and have the Matt storyline deal with Sylar attempting to regain his body. Instead they are muddying it up with Nathan occasionally reverting to Sylar from the beginning, which really undercuts whatever they are doing with both Nathan and Matt/Sylar.
