It's almost refreshing the way that Cohutta has basically all along treated his relationship with Kelly Anne (however it sits) as none of our business. It was only slightly addressed in Sydney (because he wouldn't talk about it) and his role in this whole big mess on the challenge was really minimal.

Ibis...eh...whatever.
If it would have been somekind of strength challenge like last week when they played tug of war with that big ring Cohutta wouldn't have won. But it was great to see the challengers actually win for a change.

Honestly, I don't really know where Lavin got that. Wes tried to throw the first challenge (which based on the persona he portrays Lavin should have HATED). Of course he's going to go in and the second time he went in it was for the same reason. After that he hadn't been in for two weeks which isn't bad given how many people on the team don't like him. Should Evan or Kenny have gone in...probably, but the relationship was better. Wes at least got to pick his opponent.

You never know what the challenge will be. That's why it's risky to pick someone with a different skill set. Wes would have smoked Dunbar in that challenge last night.

I think Wes would smoke Dunbar in a 'Pick a number between 5 and 7' challenge.

Watch yourself. A comment like that would trigger that steroid rage problem that he has.

Re: Real World/Road Rules "The Ruins" Season Discussion

I kind of liked the comment by Lavin. I mean, I know the game is rigged before it even starts to the extent that certain alliances are going into the game with a plan and advantage to protect themselves for a long time. I mean, I think Derrick once said he was done with these because of his family, but he's been back a few times because this stuff pays a lot of his family's bills and it beats his other choice of working at the drive-thru.

Still, Kenny makes me sick when he laughs about Wes going when, really, what has Kenny done?

That's kind of my point. Wes and Dunbar have similar strengths, but Wes is a better/smarter competitor than Dunbar and is likely to beat him in any challenge. Conversely, while Wes is certainly physically stronger than Cohutta we saw what happened when they got an agility challenge.

I'm sure Wes was overconfident and thought that there was no way Cohutta could beat him at anything. He was clearly wrong.

I usually hate TJ (I mean he's pretty worthless, and he thinks he's not) but I had to laugh at the comment to the Champions after Wes left.

I wonder how Cohutta made the cut to be on the Real World. He doesn't seem to be douchy enough. Good to see him beat Wes. Now he needs to get in Kelly Anne's pants while Wes is gone. That would be icing on the cake.

Other than Cohutta, Brad and Derrick I dislike pretty much everyone on the show... but for some reason I can't stop watching.

Same. I actually really like Brad and it sucks knowing what's going to happen to him later on.

Yeah Cohutta is a real down to earth soul and a class act.

Yes, but definitely too hillybilly to ever be able to be with Kelly Anne longer than they already were. He's not her type. He's way to close to being human.

I don't buy that Derrick is that great of a guy. In fact, he's always part of the big alliance, but he learned to dial down his personality and kind of stay as much under the radar as possible.

On the one hand, anything he needs to do to get paid and feed his family is his main priority and that's understandable. I still think, though, he's a nut.

Brad seems ok. I have no earthly idea what Evan might really be like. I just get the feeling from his conversations to the camera that he has the "playing the character" for tv down pat better than anyone else. His sense of humor suggests a wink to the audience that he gets it, something you never sense from Wes, Danny, or Kenny.

I've seen Derrick at least a couple times... once at a Cubs game and another time at a bar/dance club across the street from Wrigley Field. Seemed like a pretty normal guy (not douchebaggy)

I don't think it's the Hillbilly part, it's the MATURE part. Hell, isn't KA from Texas or some part of the South too? Anyway, she's a young split-tail who's living her young party/whoring life. Cohutta's a working man who's seems ready to give the right girl a good life and raise a family.

Derrick mentioned a while back that he watched himself on these shows and saw what he was like (in his wilder days). He said it helped him grow up a little.

Brad seems to have matured quite a bit since San Diego (in contrast to someone like Robin). Still, he's with Tori so I don't what that says about him.

I agree with you about Evan, and, for the record, that's why I don't ever completely dislike Evan. He seems to be a lot smarter than guys like Kenny and Johnny which is probably why they defer to him.

Of course, not everyone on this show is stupid or a fame whore. For instance, Susie came back (she "retired" after Viewer's Revenge) to earn some money to pay off her PhD.

I haven't seen the last few RR/RW Challenges, but wasn't Danny pretty bad, he seemed pretty mellowed out on this show now that he was married. What the hell happened to Johnny, he seemed like an okay guy on the Real World Key West.

Re: Real World/Road Rules "The Ruins" Season Discussion

Don't feel the least bit sorry for Veronica. She made her living in the past on these challenges being the "mean girl" connected to the "in crowd". In Evan's game it's all about winning the money, and she's just not as valuable in the challenges as Susie and Johanna (though admittedly Evelyn is valuable, and he really screwed that up earlier this season...one wonders if they'll regret that at some point).

Besides, I think Veronica martyred herself a little. It was her turn to go in (Susie has already been in once); she wasn't going to beat either Sarah or KellyAnne in that challenge, and having poor useless Casey on the other team is far more valuable than any single female competitor on the Champions team.

Glad to see that Cohutta is the top guy...though his target really can't get any bigger now. I'm sorry that it was at Syrus' expense. I would have much rather seen that douche Johnny go home. Can he go home next? I'm actually a little surprised that Susie and Johanna let it go down that way in the deliberation. Susie doesn't like Johnny (it's in the deleted scenes online), and she's known Syrus for years now.

Re: Real World/Road Rules "The Ruins" Season Discussion

This episode is one you can watch, record, and keep as a reminder of everything bad (but addictive) about this show. I'm not even going to comment as much as I'd like to, but these people all act like major douchebags.

Derrick made some of the dumbest comments, both drunk and sober, I've ever heard. I don't care if he seems cool at a baseball game.

He flips out and even after the silly "fight" and his time to reflect, the newly mature Derrick says, "You need to think and do this kind of prank to someone else."

So, it would have been ok by Derrick if the prank had been done to Evan or any other person. It's either a dickish thing to do or it's not. And if you would have had a good chuckle if it had happened to someone else, you should be able to handle it happening to you.

Evan made some really dumb comments too. Use Veronica...come on, Evan, you don't need to lower yourself to that level and then have the balls to look the girl in the face and tell her there is no deal (when she just her the whole conversation about the deal) and then also try and sell her that there's friendship and then friendship in the game. No, there's "you'll do anything to get a little sex and do anything to get paid." Just go ahead and say it, just about everyone else there is just as sleazy as you.

I kind of like Kelly Anne and while I'm certainly a fan of boobs, her implants are just too big.

Again, has Kenny had to ever put himself in a situation where his spot in the game is in jeopardy? Too many people, in these alliances set up mostly before they ever show up to the location, just get a free pass to the end every time.

I still don't like mean and arrogant Susie in the game, but I think she'd be one the most normal people outside of the game from the champions girls side.

And after writing all of that and knowing I could probably write a short story just after tonight's episode, I still can't wait to see these people next week and I will be sad when the damn thing is over.
