Nice, LOL!! -- The last 20 min. could have been an easy pilot for SBTB - The College Years!! --- I actually liked this more than Parks and Recreation - I'm not a fan of Joel McHale or The Soup (but should be!) but as far as pilots go, this was pretty good ... seriously, it was alot better than the SNL Thursday update show!!!

The premiere didn't meet my expectations, but I'm still optimistic. I'll continue to tune in...

I thought just the opposite. I thought the characters were hilarious and the dialogue was great. I laughed out loud much more at this one than I did The Office this week. I'll be tuning in much more.

I liked the show - it picked up at the end - and I found myself laughing at a couple of lines. (ex. breakfast club quotes).

I will be tuning back in.

It was a nice change of pace. I'm not sure if the concept can sustain a series, but I thought that about Earl and Scrubs and I love both of those.

Hopefully this show finds its place and reels me in.

Re: Community -- New Series w/ Joel McHale & Chevy Chase -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/09

As others have said, I felt like the show got better as it went. I'll definitely continue to watch it; I'm sure it will improve as the season goes. There were a couple of characters that I didn't really care for, but the hyper, spazzy guy being the main one.

Did anyone else think this pilot felt more like a second episode? Especially during the beginning, I kept feeling like I missed the setup, so to speak. Maybe we're just at the point that network promo things so much that they know we'll already be up on the premise.

Re: Community -- New Series w/ Joel McHale & Chevy Chase -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/09

i really enjoyed this. i think Joel was the strongest link and the rest were the weaker which was surprising. Joel really surprised me and did quite well. a big step up from his Soup persona and i really like his Soup persona.

but this didn't go for straight laughs or stupid jokes, but i saw a twinge of heart and emotion (especially in Joel, though sarcasm peppered) and i think it worked. i think if they stick with this formula it could gain momentum and really become something.

looking forward to more.

It was alot better than I thought it would be. I expected the guy from the Soup to annoy the shit out of me but he was really good.

I'm actually looking up for Ken Jeong appearance.

Re: Community -- New Series w/ Joel McHale & Chevy Chase -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/09

OK, I loved it!

The end with McHale talking about the plight of plight of smart people rang pretty true. In fact, McHale's character came off as pretty real, as did the blonde. The rest were underdeveloped stereotypes, though Chevy did a haflway decent job of being Chevy.

That being said, the show is funny, has a lot of potential, will be great in the leadoff spot once 30 Rock comes back. I miss Earl, but at least they've replaced it with something worth watching.

I felt the same way. Actually it was a little eerie how close McHale's character was to me in a lot of ways.

But I'm a big fan of Joel McHale and also of John Oliver from "The Daily Show", so I'm glad it seems to be working so far. Hopefully equal humor will be distributed amongst the ensemble cast.

But so far a very strong start. I burst out laughing when Abed started reciting Bender's speech.

Joe McCale was good as always and Chevy and the rest of the cast were good too. I will keep watching.

I had no intention of watching this but I was too lazy to get up and turn the channel after The Office. I watched it for the first 5 minutes and I was amazed that their college campus looked EXACTLY like my community college campus I went to back in the mid-90's. I had to stay and watch and I thought it was good and I'll watch again.

Loved it. Joel McHale + Chevy Chase = gold. I liked all the characters and constant movie references. Definitely will be a favorite. Hopefully it does well in the ratings.

I don't know if anyone really dug that song played towards the end of the episode as much as I did, but I found the name of it today. It's 'Good Ol Fashion Nightmare' by Matt & Kim.

They've used that song so much in the promos I thought it should/would be the theme song. Like all theme songs though, everything except the catchy little chorus sucks balls.

I never saw any promos for the show, so I didn't know it was in there but it's a really good song. Hope it is the theme song.

Terrible pilot, nearly completely void of laughs.

Re: Community -- New Series w/ Joel McHale & Chevy Chase -- "Pilot" -- 9/17/09

I just got done watching this... I'm not into sitcoms. At all. The only one I watch is HIMYM. I gave this one a try because my favorite Tv Critic from the Newark Star Ledger LOVED it and couldn't stop raving about it. And my neighbor, age 45, just enrolled in our community college so she and I watched it together.
Major disappointment.
Maybe it was built up too much?
I always give shows one or two more chances after the pilot. Not sure if I have 40 more minutes in me to give this two more episodes.
We'll see.
