Fringe -- Season 2 Premiere -- "A New Day in the Old Town" -- 9/17/09

Fringe

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Season Two opens with Olivia's shocking return to this reality, and Peter, unknowingly in a race against time with an ominous mobile force, pursues information about Olivia's perplexing visit to the alternate reality. Meanwhile, Walter reenters the lab to cook up a bit of fringe science, and of course, some custard for someone's birthday.

Cannot fricking wait for it's return Thursday night.

FOX is taking a huge risk moving it to this timeslot against The Office, CSI, Grey's and Supernatural.

Leonard Nimoy will be back this season as William Bell. He's already filmed 1 episode and there is an open invitation by the producers for him to come back whenever he wants.

Great news.

sigh. because Fox decided to move this show, I've been forced to ditch it due to conflicts. Hopefully they will rerun the entire season later on in the year... or else I'll have to wait for the dvd.

Unless you absolutely hate watching stuff off the computer, it's going to be posted on Hulu and FOX.com the next day.

They aren't going to rerun the entire season. Serialized shows like this never get reruns anymore.

I asked this in the other thread, but is hulu available through ps3 or xbox360? yes, I hate watching things on the computer... but if I could somehow route it through the television, I'd be happy

I can't freakin' wait until Peter finds out what's going on. He's going to go ballistic on Walter.

Also, I wonder if they'll try to bring more of Peter's mysterious past this year. They touched on it a little last season, and I thought they were going somewhere with it, but never did.

Re: Fringe -- Season 2 Premiere -- "A New Day in the Old Town" -- 9/17/09

Now my question to myself is WHICH to watch first? This or Supernatural on in the same timeslot. Curse you FOX! GRRRRRR! Seeing as this is the second episode of Supernatural, I may have to watch this first to get through the cliffhanger!

Can't wait!

(DJariya - during the "Tweet-peat" two weeks ago, they said Nimoy will definitely appear in several episodes this season. I don't see how they can do it simply based on his availability and still maintain a decent, plausible story arc, but who am I to say?)

According to an article in EW, Kirk Acevedo (Agent Charlie Francis) was not cut due to budget constraints and will play a major part in season 2 (especially tonight).

Thursday nights are crazy, but Fringe is at the top of the heap for me. If the conflicts become too much I'll be dropping other shows first.

Can't wait for this season.

But I do have a feeling it may suffer an imagined sophomore slump with the fans as many shows do even if when the material is still great.

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot this was on Thursday's now. Tivo would have picked it up I'm sure but I have to move it up the Season Pass list because Thursday nights are going to be brutal.

I would doubt it. There was so much hate for this show among many when it first started that I think the ones that stayed around are a much stronger fanbase.

I'm just the opposite. I missed most of the last season's shows because I work on the night it was on. I'm off every Wednesday and Thursday, so now I get to catch it every week, instead of having to watch it online after the fact like I did before.

Can't wait to see where this goes this season. I liked the first season but it did get boring at times. As for not being able to watch it on a computer, if you have a laptop just hook it up to the tv. Hulu looks good on the big screen with higher quality video selected.

I didn't think you could get HD quality through Hulu for this show. However, if you use Fox's VOD you can get HD quality.

I agree, I don't know how they can plot out a season and incorporate the William Bell character into an episode if they are at the mercy of his availability.

Figured early on that
Spoiler:
Charlie would be killed in that fashion-- mostly because of the offseason buzz. We knew something was going to happen with him.

I may have to record Fringe this season if they've ditched the longer episodes w/"back in 30-60-90 seconds." Regular breaks blow.

Really good start for the season. Loved the typewriter scene.

I, particularly, enjoyed the "cameo" by David Duchovny.
