So...no more NBC News @ 5pm in New York.

instead they have a full hour of fashion/style/life in NYC. oh boy! i can hardly contain myself at the thought of finding out how to revamp someone's husband in the key segment they call revamp your shlubby hubby or something stupid like that. they did something like this before by putting "Extra" on at 5 and that was gone before you can blink.

i used to like their news at 5pm. i don't understand the marketing genius that put this show opposite every other news broadcast on every other channel at 5pm. i just don't get it at all.

rant over!

Why wouldn't you want to watch local news?

Because the same information is easily accessible online without all the hype and sensationalism?

All I know is Darlene Rodriguez and Megan Meaney are on in the AM on NBC, so they are doing something right imo...

Well, the backstory is that LX TV was an independently produced broadcast version of an online entertainment website called...naturally, LX.tv. They used to air early mornings on WNBC.

But, maybe a year ago, NBC decided to buy the LX.tv company entirely and operate it under their local services division. So that's why you're seeing a bumped up timeslot for the show...because it's now owned 100% by WNBC.
