Wow, I wonder how much of that audience "the vampire diaries" can hold onto? Not to mention that fact they got 2 million viewers to watch a repeat on a friday...

well its the Vampire fad. I hear that True Blood gets like 4 or 5 million viewers on the first viewing on HBO. Also, how did Glee do on its premiere

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

It always amazes me that the new episode of Cops always gets lower ratings than the 8:30 repeat.

That being said, did you see the premiere of Cops this week with the guy in Vegas who was so high on something that it took 2 cops & 2 fire guys to subdue him? He got in a physical fight with the first cop and when they went down the fire guys jumped on the guy and the cop tased him to no effect. All during this time and subsequent struggle with the handcuffs on, the guy never really made a sound. He was so out of it.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

How much of a delay is there usually in timeshifted results? I know this week kicked of a lot of new/traditional shows. Despite loosing 25% of it's audience, I'd be curious to see how Vampire Diaries does in +n days of a viewing either online or through DVRs.

i saw it. it was awesome. the best episodes are when they run and when they get tased! also, noticed on some older repeats that the camera guys get to a running suspect faster than the cops.

COPS is so my guilty pleasure and i love taping it and having it to watch on Sunday. but, the 8:30 was a new episode as well last week.

I knew it. Fringe would get around 8M. If it somehow manages to stay in the range with the extra competition next week, I think FOX would probably look at that as a success.

But I think you said in the Fringe thread, let's see how well it does against the (tired) CSI and (not my cup of tea) Grey's Anatomy.

Yeah I'm saying that if it stays in that range IMO with CSI, Grey's and the other stuff premiering next Thursday, that can be looked at as a success.

But, we'll see. I mean it's never going to win the timeslot and it only finished barely behind 2nd last night because people don't watch Grey's reruns.

I think that's a great idea. I'm just way too busy to do the ratings everyday and this will be a lot easier and it will be kept up to date all the time.

If you don't see it posted by 11:00am I'd really appreciate it if you could just post it for me.

16.5m average for House was also 18 - 49 winner for the night. Those are crazy high ratings for a Fox show not following (or called) Idol. That said, last season of House was the first to not follow Idol at all and was also its lowest rated (12m).

Terrible numbers for Heroes.

Great numbers for House!!

Heroes is buh bye after this season. I cannot see NBC wasting anymore money on this show that pretty much most of the country has given up on.

Loser (of its lead-in audience): "Castle." ABC's crime drama lost about half its "Dancing" lead-in and finished with 9.26 million viewers, on par with what it did last spring. While in raw numbers it's not that bad (it finished second across the board at 10, behind "CSI: Miami"), the retention was not great.
I don't know that I agree with that sentiment. Also, I feel like more people would be willing to watch Castle online rather than CSI. Perhaps I'm just optimistic on that last point though.

I mean this as a serious question - what is so special about NCIS that it can draw 20M and a spin-off that can draw 18M?
