Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

Heroes will be shipped off to Fridays shortly. Trauma will be dead by Novemberish (each episode is very expensive). Castle may get a full season order depending on other shows sticking around (or not; Castle is cheap). GG was down with Tyra Banks + Hilary Duff?

And it was a good episode that should bring the viewers back.

If I were NBC, I would dump Heroes to Friday and move Southland to Monday's at 9pm and find something else to air at 8pm (maybe Chuck?). I mean they are investing alot in Southland and at least it's gotten good reviews among critics and fans.

Any chance of an early Chuck return?

Pretty please?

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

You don't want Chuck back now. NBC is so low rated let them cancel all this shit so Chuck has its own chance to shine.

Trauma, Mercy will be gone soon. Southland won't last. L&O is likely gone after this season. Heroes is likely gone (a 5th, final season made for more episodes in syndication might happen). Let NBC self destruct then bring back Chuck. Better chance at the back 9.

The national overnight rating for the Packers-Vikings "Monday Night Football" game on ESPN indicates the game likely will become the highest-rated cable telecast in history. The final rating will be available tonight.

The overnight rating for the game was 14.2 among the metered markets. If that holds up it would be the 12.4 rating the Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 15 delivered, which stands as the highest-rated event on cable television.
Always fun to see my Packers embarrassed in front of a huge audience.

^ What he said.

I want Chuck promoted during the Olympics and to air with the same or better numbers over last year. That will let it shine in comparison to what these shows are pulling down this fall.

TV ratings: 'NCIS: LA' cools, CBS still rules Tuesday
By Rick Porter

October 7, 2009 8:43 AM

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009

The audience for "NCIS: Los Angeles" fell off a little bit Tuesday, which allowed "The Biggest Loser" to move ahead of it in the adults 18-49 demographic. In total viewers, though, it and the rest of CBS' lineup still dominated the night.

CBS averaged about 16.5 million viewers and a 10.4 rating/17 share for the night, nearly doubling the viewer total for second-place ABC (8.3 million, 5.6/9). NBC (8.1 million, 5.0/8) came in third. FOX was fourth with 6.4 million viewers and a 3.7/6, and The CW, per usual, was back of the pack with 1.9 million viewers and a 1.4/2.

CBS also led the 18-49 demo with a 3.6 rating, holding off NBC's 3.1. FOX, 2.8, took third in the demographic advertisers love, followed by ABC at 2.0 and The CW at 1.0.

Tuesday night hour by hour:

8 p.m.

CBS: "NCIS" (19.8 million viewers, 12.2/19 households)
NBC: "The Biggest Loser" (8.6 million, 5.2/8)
FOX: "Hell's Kitchen" (7.3 million, 4.1/7)
ABC: "Shark Tank" (5.4 million, 3.6/6)
The CW: "90210" 2.2 million, 1.6/3)

18-49 leader: "NCIS" (4.2)

9 p.m.

CBS: "NCIS: Los Angeles" (16.1 million, 10.1/16)
ABC: "Dancing with the Stars" results (11.8 million, 7.9/12)
NBC: "The Biggest Loser" (9.6 million, 5.8/9)
FOX: "So You Think You Can Dance" (5.5 million, 3.3/5)
The CW: "Melrose Place" (1.6 million, 1.2/2)

18-49 leader: "The Biggest Loser" (3.9)

10 p.m.

CBS: "The Good Wife" (13.4 million, 8.7/15)
ABC: "The Forgotten" (7.8 million, 5.2/9)
NBC: "The Jay Leno Show" (6.2 million, 4.0/7)

18-49 leader: "The Good Wife" (2.9)

Ratings information includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.

Right on for The Good Wife!

Not surprised it's #1 in the 10 PM slot, but it's holding its numbers quite well.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

How are 'Medium's figures compared to previous seasons? I know they changed network and time slot, I was just curious as to whether the numbers dropped or stayed pretty even? Maybe it picked up new viewers, or just carried over previous fans?

Given the lack of competition in the 9 p.m. timeslot on Fridays, Medium is safe.

The 'series premiere' for 'Hank' and 'The Middle' threw me off.

nice to see Glee have a steady audience.

It will be very interesting to see how tonight's 1 hour Office episode does against CSI and Grey's

Ahhhh, damn for Eastwick!! I was starting to really like the show.

That's shocking that Mercy won the 8pm hour with barely over 7M viewers.

The new ABC sitcoms have dropped alot.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

And yet they all just were picked up for a full season! If Glee can edge up just a little it could easily move to the #2 slot.

I think Fox would be DUMB not to have the Glee cast perform on Idol next spring to give the back half a bump.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

In light of the ratings, if NBC cancels "Mercy", they have truly thrown in the towel this season.

Hank hasn't been given a full season order yet, has it? It is weird that The Middle got a full season pick-up with the same ratings for its second episode as Hank did.

Mercy might last - depends on what else NBC cancels (possibly today).

Hank is as good as dead. ABC has nothing to replace it with so it will sit for a few more weeks. Scrubs/Better off Ted return December 2nd.

Yeah, stick it on another night when I can watch! Between NBC and Fox I have to find 'other' ways to watch Vamp Diaries/Supernatural and Flashforwards two eps have been sitting on my DVR.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

I'm more worried about Community.

I think, in general, the average viewer in the Nielsen ratings group just doesn't care for serialized TV shows (like Flash Forward). It's a tough sell in today's climate where people can't be bothered to remember what happened to them just 20 minutes ago.

It looks like the numbers have settled for the CW's Thursday offerings to die-hard numbers (3.5 and 2.5 million respectively for The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural).

The Mentalist is showing good legs for a show in its 2nd second in a later timeslot on a different night.

It looks like the numbers have settled for the CW's Thursday offerings to die-hard nubmers (3.5 and 2.5 million respectively for The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural).

NBC has a boner for Community - it's not going anywhere (hopefully). It'll likely get the back 9 soon. Parks and Rec is a different story, but the back 9 (or maybe 4-5 additional eps) is possible. NBC won't kill both both shows for that crap '100 questions' coming in at mid-season.

NBC will likely be canning Trauma shortly, and Mercy is 50/50 (holds its ratings and honestly they have nothing to replace it with). All good news for Chuck because its lower ratings are on average with NBC's more expensive shows. The amount of on-air advertisements Chuck can do is amazing. They could dedicate the entire episode to Rock Band if they wanted to and it wouldn't be that obvious.

Heroes will continue its 19 episode run. 50/50 shot of getting renewed for a 5th season (likely 13 episode wrap-up and good for syndication). NBC will be an open house next season as they will have tons of gaps to fill if everything fails. L&O is gone. Day One is dead (unless it does miracles in ratings). Parenthood is questionable since they are going to reshoot the pilot for the third (!) time.
