IDK, I like the series (haven't watched the spin off yet) a lot. Great characters and good stories... And of course the spin-off is going to retain a good portion of its lead-in. I wonder if CBS will try and move it to a new night at some point this season after it establishes an audience.

Wow -- 1.5 million viewers for Melrose Place? That would be considered "maybe" okay if it were a repeat...

If Melrose Place keeps sliding with numbers like that, it won't make it through a full season, will it?

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

NCIS's cast chemistry is terrific, and they aren't afraid to delve into deep/dark character stuff on that show. Combine that with predominantly standalone stories with season-long character arcs weaved into the episodes, it's the type of show that succeeds for viewers that don't want to invest a lot of time into "Lost"-like mythology-ish shows that require a lot of baggage to be carried by the viewer to get a lot out of the show.

I wonder if the CW has other shows to replace it with because those are atrocious numbers for a scripted show. The main problem is that the cast doesn't have a lot of star power, and the episodes don't have instantly engaging characters.

They only have 1 midseason replacement available. I think w/ crappy numbers like that they may do the same thing like they did w/ Priviledged and order more episodes, but not a full season to see if it gains any momentum.

I'm probably not the target audience, but I couldn't tolerate it after an episode and a half. I've taken it off the DVR record list. On the other hand, I still tolerate 90210.

Wasn't Priviledged getting slightly higher numbers and probably cost a lot less to produce?

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

If I recall correctly, Privileged was getting around 2M viewers.

Not sure where it was filmed, but if Privileged was filmed in Florida where it took place, then it would have been more expensive to produce than Melrose which is shot in LA and has a mostly no-name cast.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

I thought Privileged was filmed in California.

MP was promoted heavily. That had to cost big $$$.

I still think Privileged was cheaper... and such a same that it was canceled. Especially for crap like MP reboot.

Re: Primetime TV Ratings - Part IV (2009-2010 Season)

ABC is going to hate losing DwtS on Wednesdays once they pare down the contestants enough to do just the Monday and Tuesday shows. It's like printing money for them on Wednesdays.

Looks like "The Beautiful Life" will be the first new show to go

SVU's down about 2 million from what it was averaging last season, looks like Leno is going to sink other shows with him.

Poor NBC... horrible numbers all across the board. Office and SVU tanked, what else is left for this pathetic network?

At least it's not as bad as The CW.

Great debut numbers for Criminal Minds and CSI: NY!!

I'm actually surprised to see Eastwick get 8.5M viewers. The feedback here has been generally good so far.

TBL or Beautiful Life is done.

Office didn't tank, though it was a little lighter than last year. SVU is way down.

NBC may have shit numbers but hell at least they have a few entertaining shows, more than I can say for CBS or ABC (both of which have maybe a single decent show a piece.)

Office got beat by a CSI re-run. Let's see how well it does against the season premiere tonight.

I know it's just your personal opinion, but most people in this forum would disagree with you about ABC and CBS.

Looks like "TBL" will be the first to go. I can't believe with only 1.5 million CW is paying for additional scripts on "Melrose Place"...

They are hoping lighting strikes twice with Heather Locklear's appearances on the new Melrose Place episodes airing in November, so the CW is going to let it ride until then.

So is "Community" series premiere (7.7 million, 4.6/8) good?

and anyway to get #'s for cable shows? Mad Men?

6.6 isn't really "blockbuster" status - but it's still one of FOX's most watched SCRIPTED shows - plus its in a moderately hard timeslot.

true, and its probably very popular on stuff like hulu and the likes. I'm surprised at how much i love that show. I only really watched the pilot because of who was involved.

Well FOX already committed to a full 22 episode season, so there isn't anything to worry about for now.
