I loved Seinfeld, but I gotta go with Q. I fully expect him to get trounced, but he was easily my favorite character in ST:TNG.

Re: Favorite TV Character Tourney: Round of 128/Group #7

George...possibly the greatest sidekick of all time. Q was an occasional guest star. Not even close

Dan Fielding...Laroquette won so many emmys for Dan Fielding he started taking his name out of consideration. As good as Freaks and Geeks was it was a limited run TV show.

Dr. Mark Greene...if this was a contest between Chandler in the first four years of Friends versus Mark Greene I would probably go the other way. Unfortunately, those last six years of Friends do exist.

Barney Fife...I love Adam Baldwin, both in Firefly and now in Chuck, but Firefly was a limited run show and Barney Fife is one iconic TV characters of all time. This isn't close.

Wasn't Barney Fife played by Don Knotts?
Never mind.

Re: Favorite TV Character Tourney: Round of 128/Group #7

George - Tough one because I love Q and I think my vote got him in the tournament, but it's Costanza.
Dan Fielding - Not even close, though I wouldnt be shocked if he lost since F&G is some kind of God-show here.
Frank Drebin - not a fan of the new Dr. Who.
Sanford - Re: Scrubs, Peter Griffin said it best.."which one was the funny guy..."
Dr Greene - Two meh choices.
Barney Fife - One of the all-time great sitcom characters, but sadly he will probably lose to someone who was on TV for 14 episodes.
Dale Cooper - I like Xena but she can't beat Agt Cooper.
Dana Scully - Damn tough matchup for Ralph. He's a legend but I'm X-Files all the way.

Re: Favorite TV Character Tourney: Round of 128/Group #7

George - I like Q a lot, but George is one of the greatest characters ever
Dan Fielding - Prefer the show, and the character
Frank Drebin - Never could get into Dr. Who
Dr. Cox - Hard one, both were great. I like Dr. Cox a bit more
Dr. Green - The best of a bad pair
Jayne Cobb - Fairly close, ask me another day I might pick the other way
Dale Cooper - Tough, I love both these shows, but Dale Cooper is a great and unique character
Ralph Cramden - Not a fan of either show, but I like Honeymooners a little more

Re: Favorite TV Character Tourney: Round of 128/Group #7

Jayne got a really tough draw here. I had to go Fife, but Jayne is an excellent character given the short length of the show. I have to be honest that I understand why Firefly did not exactly take off given its "TV poison" premise, but the casting, a lot of the writing, and the acting was inspired.

Frank Drebin was one of the last characters in, now it looks like he is headed to Final 64 and maybe beyond. Drebin vs Sanford should make for an interesting matchup if it happens.

Re: Favorite TV Character Tourney: Round of 128/Group #7

George Costanza vs. Q - Partly a pro-Q vote (de Lancie brought a great mixture of malice and humor to the role, depending on the nature of the character's appearance), but this is also an anti-George vote on my part. That character is somewhere between a narcissist and a sociopath and I simply cannot celebrate him. Plus, Jason Alexander's horrendous over-acting became a self-caricature halfway through the series and is largely responsible for me finding the series unwatchable at times.
