TV shows you can't believe are still on the air
We've talked in depth around here about TV shows we wish were still on the air, but what about shows you really can't believe are still on the air?
The idea for this tread came to me when I saw One Tree Hill is still on the air. I never expected that show to last as long as it has.
Smallville is another one. What are we up to on that? Season 9 or so? Tom Welling is getting a bit too long in the tooth to be playing a college aged kid.
There are obviously reality shows I could mention, but those seem like too easy of targets.

Re: TV shows you can't believe are still on the air
I have to vote for "One Tree Hill" and "Smallville". I seriously cannot believe that they are entering their seventh and ninth season's respectively. I've never been an avid watcher of 'Smallville' but I have followed 'One Tree Hill' since the first episode (give or take a couple months) first as a "Dawson's Creek" replacement.
But still it AMAZES ME that it has been on the air this long, and is still very entertaining and engaging. The 4-year jump was exactly what the show was needing, and I'm excited for another jump (just a year this time) and new cast members...

American Idol - I mean, millions and millions of viewers are the reason it's still on, but if I wanted to see karaoke I could just go to the VFW and catch better singers.

Sopranos is another one that went on too long, but I suppose the circumstances that were unavoidable after season two really prevented them from going in the direction they wanted to go in, so the story line that could have wrapped up in 4 seasons got stretched out far, far too long.
And if we are going to mention reality TV shows, I will throw Survivor out there. I honestly don't know if it's still on the air, but it seems I hear about something on this show in passing every year. There's a concept I thought would have played itself out long ago and just faded away.

It wasn't supposed to last that long, was it? I thought it was originally supposed to run a couple seasons, if that much, but Fox made the creators stretch it out longer.

It's declined alot in the ratings since the writers strike and has never been known to have good scripts in it's entire run, but still gets around 12-13M viewers a week and is a huge cash machine for CBS/Paramount in 1st run and syndication. It's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Scrubs. It seems like it's been canceled about five times.

Doesn't mean I can't be surprised that it's still on the air.

Some solid music acts too.
I'm amazed According to Jim lasted as long as it did, and am constantly surprised Two and a Half Men pulls the ratings it does.
I'm also amazed Jerry Springer is still around.

Re: TV shows you can't believe are still on the air
In terms of ratings, Dollhouse and Chuck threw me with their renewals (in a good way). But as for quality, I thought Gilmore Girls should have ended when Sherman-Palladino left, and I wish Scrubs would just fucking die already. Its early seasons were good but it went to shit long before the supposedly excellent finale (well, not really now). And Heroes, of course. It was always a bad ripoff of X-Men and Watchmen, but it at least kept you interested the first season; but it became absolutely horrid in the second season and I finally threw my arms up and left it before S3's midseason finale.
