"My ass is magnetic now!"
Sookie was the least interesting of the bunch for most of the hour (until maybe the last few minutes) -- a lot of Andy the Drunk Det., MaryAnn the Hummingbird doing it with a 17-yr old Sam the Dog, and a vampire biting back while getting his hair done.
The Iraqi war vet's obsession with Arlene's "sunset" hair
I give this premiere a 10 out of 10 -- great setup that went by too fast!!

He was getting the V from that vampire who later was killed by Amy, I'm guessing the vampires think he killed him.

from the other thread (that bares repeating)
Anna Paquin has revealed that her character in HBO's "True Blood" will get more nude scenes in the second season. The actress who earned her first Golden Globe through the role, told E! Online "I get more naked this season than I did last season. We have a really great crew and everyone's really respectful. It's not an issue for me."
As a consequence, Paquin has to work out her exercise regime. "I work my ass off," she confessed. "I'm very careful about what I eat, and I work out a lot. My costume entails bathing suits, short-shorts and nude scenes, come on! I don't want to be perpetuating the myth that women actually do look exactly like the way they look in magazines and on television through absolutely no effort!"
But Paquin insisted that the season won't be mere sex and passion, but also "exciting and sexy and scary and engaging" that audience will be kept on the edge of the seat. "And every time you think things are going to go smoothly, something really effed up happens," she promised.
One thing that "True Blood" won't have though, is "Twilight" factor. Although both are about vampires, Paquin emphasized one difference between the series and the popular big screen flick. "They're completely different age groups that they're trying to appeal to," she explained. "It wouldn't be appropriate for teenagers to be watching our show. I wouldn't have been allowed to."

I guess this episode answered the question that Erik isn't a natural blonde.
Oh, and how funny is that Bill recycles?

Outstanding season opener! I didn't realize that was Lafayette there in the dungeon, he looked different...
Can't wait to see what MaryAnn is all about! I wonder if she killed the fake voodoo lady, or someone else?
to more nude Sookie!

Nice start to the season. More Paquin nudity is a welcome addition to the show. Michelle Forbes is very attractive for her age. Maybe she'll get in on the flesh parade.

Me too. I have always liked Michelle Forbes ever since she appeared on Star Trek:TNG as Ensign Ro. So if she's going to partake on the nudity, I have no problem at all with it.
I have to say that I actually like Jessica.
How long has it been since Lafayette went missing?

I was pretty surprised at the "more chins than a Chinese phonebook" line getting such a big laugh at the restaurant. Really? Were none of these characters ever in the 4th grade?
Other than that, I enjoyed the episode.

Gotta give as well to Suckee's nekkidness. (It is funny when Bill pronounces her name as "suckee" as she is the suckee in their relationship).

It took me awhile to realize that the Reverend was not played by Will Forte. They have the same voice!

Good start for the season. I'm happy to see that Lafayette is still around, that was a funny scene he had with the redneck in the dungeon. Same with Maryann going off on Tara's mother.
Yay for more Anna Paquin nooditity!
Took me a minute to make sure that the reverend wasn't Will Forte too.
