Really enjoyed the few Buffys I've seen, and am really looking forward to watching the complete collection someday (more like month or year); but 30 Rock is just too good to vote against.

Saw 30 Rock. Hated it. Oh, I see why... it's created by Tina Fey. Tina Fey who, when she became head writer for SNL, brought in a bunch of her equally unfunny gal pals to do the writing, and completely destroyed anything funny about the show.

Buffy all the way.

Like 30 Rock a lot but wonder if it can sustain its humor. Not sure if I can see it being as funny in Season 7.

Buffy started off slow & gained momentum (and even had the great spinoff Angel). I can see 30 Rock doing exactly the opposite.

If 30 Rock is still around 4 years from now, take the poll again.

just my opinion obviously

^ I don't think we should make our choices largely based on longevity. I'm basing my answers on what show am I most likely to not flip away from if channel surfing.

I'll agree that in the final tally a decade from now, Buffy may end up being a "greater" show overall. But right now is it my "favorite" over 30 Rock? No.

I cannot stand 30 Rock. I've tried watching it and I really don't see why it gets all the love that it does. Buffy The Vampire Slayer is far superior.

Two Christmases ago, friends of mine and I debated Cheers vs. Arrested Development. Knowing the respect and love I have for the former, one friend implored me to watch the latter, saying it may even surpass Cheers. I countered that that was a very dubious claim for a series that lasted about a quarter of the time of Cheers.

Sorry, but I think the brevity of that show has contributed to the rabid devotion its fans have. These are some of the intangibles that must be considered when comparing and contrasting TV series.

Now, if you ask yourself, "If I have a blind choice between a random episode of A or B, which would I pick?" that's fine; in fact, that's how I've tried to vote. Still, I think it's perfectly reasonable to contemplate the ratio of good to disappointing episodes (or seasons). And, the fact is, a newer series should have a higher ratio of good to bad.

It is much easier to sustain something good over a short period of time than over many years. The Office UK is a good example. OUTSTANDING, but could they have mainted it for as long as the US Office has been on.

IMO, MASH, Seinfeld and Fraiser are the most consistently good comedies ever created. Each being on at least 9 years and (IMO) not a bad season among them. Though the quality did waver at times.

I think 30 Rock has been on long enough to warrant a valid comparison (3 years is pretty long nowdays), but Buffy being one of my favs of all time, it is no contest.

BTW, does anyone not really think 30 Rock is funny. I watch it consistently, and I get the jokes, but don't really ever laugh. I don't like the Tracy Morgan character or Kenneth the Page ... they are irritating to me. To me it is a comparison of humor vs. comedy. It was something George Carlin once stated in an interview. Humor is a tongue-in-cheek observance that is supposed to bring some kind of smile or light moment (like Erma Bombeck or a lot of newspaper columnists). Comedy is much more forceful and is designed to bring real laughs.

Just my 2 cents.

I think everyone should remember this is a favorite show poll, not one that should require any justification for the choice.

I enjoy 30 Rock more. It gets my vote.
