I watch 30 Rock and smirk in an enjoyable way every now and again, but the rabid fanbase it's garnered leaves me totally perplexed.

Curious, how do you feel about Arrested Development? I think the humor in 30 Rock is somewhat similar. More of a wry, have to think about it humor. I LOVE that type of humor, and think that comedy with the bawdy obvious humor like Married With Children and Two and a Half Men is, well, lets just say that I can't say anything good about it.

Indeed it is.
Frankly, I most enjoy that type of contrary humor as well, and loved Arrested Development. 30 Rock is entertaining and quite disdainfully ironic on occasion, but not enough to my liking, and I wouldn't elevate it nearly as high as the former. The bottom line I suppose is that I could understand the zealotry created by Arrested, whereas I don't for 30 Rock.

Humor is so subjective.

There are times in the Office (and even Parks and Recreation) that make me laugh out loud. I like clever humor that makes me really laugh and 30 Rock doesn't do that.
BTW, I HATE Married w/ Children and I can watch Two and Half Men if I'm flipping through channels, but that is one comedy THAT ALWAYS TAKES THE LOW ROAD.
