Bones Season Finale "The End In The Beginning" 5/14/09
Spoiler:
I usually don't bother starting episode threads, but I saw this last night and I had to vent. This is by far the worst episode of Bones I've ever seen. Nothing even comes close to it. IMO, you should record it and fast forward it, if you feel you need to watch it.
Here is the basic outline of the episode:

That was good to see, and I did like:
My wife is a huge fan of this show, and after 5 minutes, she stopped watching it.

I was too busy with "LOST" to watch this last night, but I hate Global anyway. I'm glad they haven't been cutting into Fox because Global cuts into "Survivor" on CBS instead. Love watching this on Fox itself.

Yeah I usually like watching bones because it is a fun romp. This felt forced for me to watch and I couldn't get into it. It was ok, but if this was the first episode I saw of Bones there would never be a second. I liked seeing Zack and seeing bones and boothe together but it was not that good.

Yeah seriously, what the heck was that? The whole "The Lab" thing was lame. And Booth waking up from a coma and not recognizing Bones could have been tacked onto the end of last weeks episode.

That is probably the worst season finale I have ever seen... It was torture trying to get through the episode only to have the craptastic "who are you?" ending...

I would say this was one of those self-indulgent episodes where the actors and crew are just having fun, oblivious to the audiences' pain, but I don't even think they were enjoying it.
If they were going to do something like this, especially for a finale, I would expect a very clever fantasy story, if not in the actual case then on a symbolic level. Maybe I missed it but other than a few lines that hit the view up side the head ("I'm glad we're nightclub owners and not crime solvers." "You're the type of moron who would go to jail for a murder he didn't commit."), and a few thematic parallels, I didn't find it all that clever.

What in the name of the holiest of fucks was that?
In all the months they've been publicizing Booth & Bones getting together, the producers kept saying that it wouldn't be a dream or a hallucination.
I so hate gimmick episodes.

I wish they would hurry up and get Zack out so he can go back to work. I liked his character with Hodges the most about this show.
I think next time they want to make a show like this, they need to just film Bones in the wonder woman outfit for an hour. Different angles and such, classy like you know.

This felt uncomfortably like one of those Gilligan's Island dream episodes.
They could have done something far more meaningful with this and ended up in the same place (like trying to focus on solving a crime while Booth was in his coma).
This... someone needs to go to story editor hell for this.

You would think with all the familiar faces and names they could've gotten Jonathan Adams back for this.
They could literally do anything they wanted to and I would still like it over the Zack is the Gormagon's Apprentice finale.

This might have worked as a special Holiday episode, but as a season finale, it sucked. It's not a good idea to piss off viewers if you want them to come back. It's bad enough they didn't undo the Zach as the apprentice garbage, but to tease viewers with the Booth/Bones consummation, and then to give us this? It's not consummation that ruins a couple's chemistry. It's bad writing. What were they thinking???

I thought it was just okay. It was annoying that Booth and Jared are still brothers, but Bones and her father didn't appear to be related. The mystery was just goofy and not the type of story you'd think would be a book written by Bones (who one'd suspect would utilize forensic anthropology and not be so pulpy). Really too bad. And it was written by the guy who created the show. Wow...

If the intent was to showcase different talents of each of the regulars/guests then the episode was a success. Sweets vocalizing? That was great.

But technically it WASN'T either... it was fiction. It was Brennan's next novel.

Technically, it's not even that, since she deleted the thing.

But Booth tells her he had a strange dream during the coma that seemed real. Bones was just writing whatever it was that Hodgins was narrating, which didn't seem to be specific to what was on the screen.

I couldn't watch it. Never missed an episode yet, but this sucked. Deleted it without a second thought. So sad...

This after last week stewie episode is just upsetting. I mean usually I understand an episode like this. Its usually fun for the cast and keeps them from getting in ruts but as a series finale it doesn't work.
Not that the series has never had a bad episode before but two bad in a row and one being the season finale is wrong, last weeks wasn't horrible until Stewie came into play, which felt forced and unneeded.
And I guess i'm jumping the gun in calling this episode bad, but again to me it I kinda felt cheated since again it was the DAMN season finale.
