Conan O'Brien's former sidekick, Andy Richter, will be joining The Tonight Show as the show's new announcer once O'Brien begins as host in June!!!
Richter debuted as Conan's sidekick when Late Night premiered in 1993, but decided to leave the show in 2000 to pursue his acting career.
"Andy is one of the funniest people I know, and we've maintained a close friendship since he left Late Night. We have a proven chemistry that will be an incredible asset to The Tonight Show," the giant ginger gushed to reporters about Richter.

Fantasic news!
I really hope that Conan is allowed to do at least some of the stuff he has done on Late Night.

Fantastic news. Can't wait to see the two back together again.
I'm actually looking forward to the move. He was on so late and once I started having classes starting at like 7am I just couldn't watch him any longer; it'll be nice to see him on TV rather than on sporadic clips on the computer.

I would much rather have Joel than Andy. Andy's ok in small doses I guess. I just hope we dont get too much of him.

Geez, talk about an epic fail. The guy leaves Conan to become a big TV star, bombs miserably on numerous TV shows and now has to come sniveling back to his old 2nd banana role.
This guy makes David Caruso look like the master of career choices.

I don't know how you'd say it's an epic fail. Andy Richter ran for two season as did Quints. He also was in several movies, including voices in the Madagascar flicks. It's not like he left thinking he was going to become George Clooney.

He may also feel that he can better balance being on Conan's show with other opportunities now that Conan will be based in L.A. instead of New York.

Maybe not an "epic" fail, but if he was a huge success he certainly wouldn't be coming back.
