The Office -- "Lecture Circuit Part 2" -- 2/12/09

Photobucket

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Conclusion. Accompanied by Pam, Michael continues his speaking tour of various Dunder-Mifflin branches, with the Utica division offering a valuable life lesson for Michael. Meanwhile, a surly Scranton staff makes party-planning tasks difficult for Dwight and Jim; things get catty over Angela's new feline.

Dwight butt-slapping Kelly and saying "Many happy returns" was the funniest part of the show for me.

Supernatural is a repeat this week. But have to admit that repeat was better than this episode. I'm an Office fan, but this week was meh

While it wasn't as funny as some episodes, it did make me horribly uncomfortable at times, which is vintage Office.

Spoiler:
I read that they are hoping for the season finale...and they're trying to work out a permanent deal with Amy Ryan. They don't want her to be a recurring character b/c she's so integral to Michael.

Your DVR was prophetic. It knew it was an 'eh' episode.

I agree. Funniest part of the show although the short debate about sleep vs tv watching at work was pretty funny too.

Angela's cat thing was terrible. Everything else, was great.

Re: The Office -- "Lecture Circuit Part 2" -- 2/12/09

I agree with those who were generally disappointed with this one. It just didn't really seem to build the momentum that one expected from the (respective) setups of the two sub-plots. The whole Kellie (or Kelley, or Kelly) birthday party planning just didn't amount to much, and the Angela and her cats bit, while sort of amusing, was also quite out-there.

And while I laughed at it, Angela licking her cat also made me go .

I know a lot of folks were expecting the big Michael-Holly reunion (which we all know is coming later this season anyway). I did think those few scenes where Michael was pining for Holly after he discovered she was dating someone else did achieve the tone of genuine pathos that the show manages in its better moments.

Re: The Office -- "Lecture Circuit Part 2" -- 2/12/09

I am going to break from the mainstream consensus here and say I never really cared for Holly. Nothing really specific I can put my finger on...I just didn't really care for how she clicked with the show and for some reason I never really was sold on her relationship with Michael.

This ep. was written by Mindy Kaling, whose episodes are usually pretty weak. At least she's consistent.

Agreed.

All Mindy Kaling episodes suck.

"Diwali", "Frame Toby"-- ugh

Stanley's line at the end of the sign argument cracked me up.

Oterwise, an average episode.
