If that's true, then Faraday's been crushing on his sis.

Well that clears that up. Well doesn't really clear anything up but at least we know they aren't the same person. Maybe...

Well, is Christian a reliable source? We'll have to wait and see. I thought this episode was fucking solid and things are really ramping up... I wanted to see more of Desmond's reaction at the end or to maybe have Eloise say "Hello again Mr. Hume" or something, but that's a small nitpick... loved Smokies appearance, seeing the temple and the accelerated flashes are a huge fucking piss off to the losties (but really adds to the 'stuck in hell' feeling since the Oceanic 6 left).... Just an awesome hour of TV - this season is firing on all cylinders.

My only disappointment from this episode was how easily Jin and Sawyer's group reunited. I was hoping that they'd see Jin but not know he was from their time, and therefore be hesitant to interact with "past Jin". Thought that would have made an interesting wrinkle.

So is this time jumping stuff how they're going to explain older Walt appearing to Locke?

Oh yeah, as to why Charlotte didn't recognize Daniel earlier as the man who warned her when she was young - she probably couldn't vividly recall that memory until now, when her mind is tripping through time ("I'm not supposed to have chocolate before dinner" etc. She may have revisited that moment from her childhood, finally had the memory of the strange man come into focus)

And I am, for the most part, a HUGE fan of Science Fiction.

This season started out excellent but right now, with these last two episodes, all I feel is a degree of worry over this show that I love so much. And what we saw tonight had better not be the whole "backstory" to Rousseau. If so: DISAPPOINTMENT. That is all I feel.
Oh Brother. Can't please everyone. This episode was better than most moves you see in the theater. It is hopping along at a furied pace and it keeps getting more interesting and exciting.
I didn't think Jin would find everyone so quickly. Perhaps I am used to the old lost where nothing big happened for months.
The Time travel stuff adds another fun element to the show.
Sad to see Charlotte go. The actress did some great work.

Oh, and I got a real kick out of the hissy fit Ben threw in the van. I got a real "fed up parent" vibe from it.

Desmond showed up, and they all went to see Eloise Hawking, who said that the less-than-complete group of Losties would have to do for the time being, concluding the episode with saying "let's get started, shall we"?

Ever since the beginning of the season I've always thought that Dr. Chang's baby was Charlotte and now that it's revealed she grew up on the island and can speak Korean (as well as Klingon) I think it's very clear they raised her.

It's nice to get confirmation that the 'monster' is actually the security system for the island and we seemed to have seen its lair for the first time. Still not sure how it determines a threat (other than scanning them but for what?).

I loved the severed arm. Reminded me of the Star Wars Universe.

I hope we see how the Black Rock ends up in the middle of the island. Maybe it's crashing during a storm as the island is re-appearing...

Re: Lost -- "This Place is Death" -- 2/11/09

1. So I guess we know where Smokie was trying to drag Locke back in season one.

2. I've always thought that was a pre-existing relationship of some kind between Ben and Danielle, back when she captured him and turned him over to the Losties in season two. I've always had a feeling that they had met before.

3. As to who Charlotte might be... I doubt she's Ben's daughter. She doesn't seem much older than him, at least if we look at the timeline. If Ben was born in the 60s and came to the island in the 70s, he'd be about forty years old by now. Charlotte has to be in her late 20s, at least. So unless he got Annie pregnant when they were both in their early-mid teens, it's not likely. I think she could be the daughter of Horace Goodspeed and that blond woman... she'd seem to be about the right age to have been born in the mid-70s. (We know Horace died in the purge, though I don't remember what happened to his wife.)

We don't know yet how Locke will die or if he dies for sure. We know that he probably makes it through to Tunisia after turning the wheel then I assume gets medical attention. Then, he finds his way to the States no doubt. He got to Ben and was able to give him Jin's message for Sun and pass on his ring. He also told him what happened on the island after they left. The name on the van suggests that Locke did die but will come back at some point. Or, maybe he was given some drugs by Ben to appear dead long enough for the funeral. Afterward, the body needed to be stored perhaps in a meat locker in a butcher shop. Maybe Ben knows that the island will reincarnate Locke once they all get back with its restorative powers.

After finding out that Locke did contact Ben, this seems like a real possibility. Someone in a previous thread mentioned the spider poison that did in Nikki and Paulo.

Locke's death may have been a ruse to shake up the Oceanic 6 to get them back to the island. Ben's a crafty devil and I wouldn't put anything past him at this point.

Re: Lost -- "This Place is Death" -- 2/11/09

I thought the biggest discovery of the episode was when Charlotte told Faraday that he told her not to come back to the island when she was young. Because now that means the current characters are in a timeloop. Now the writers can make it like something they do in the next episode or season caused the plane to crash. I always wanted to believe that we are seeing the characters in the present and that their actions weren't predetermined, but tonight we learned that the present is not the present.

I have to say that Ben has to be one of the greatest all time villians in any form of media. How many times has he had a gun to his head or his life threatened only to talk his way out of it? He is the one of the most manipulative villians I ever had the pleasure to witness.

The island regenerated Christian Shephard (what-a-name, when you think about it) as the stand-in for Jacob and he arrived on the island as a corpse. So I expect the same thing to happen to Locke when he returns as a corpse.

I wonder if the timeloops did stop when Locke turned the wheel. They stopped and the losties are now stuck in the past and will continue living their life from that point forward.

I wonder along these lines too.

Assuming Locke brings everyone back, when will they show up on the island?

Will Faraday/Sawyer/Miles/Juliet keep jumping until Locke & the O6 do something else?

Will Locke & the O6 have to wait until the other jump into their time and then break the cycle?

Or will it just be a happy coincidence that everyone is lined up temporally upon their return?

Jack and Locke have to meet again before Locke dies. At the end of season 4, Jack says Locke told him about what happened after they left the island and that Locke had even visited Kate.

That's a good point because if the flashes have stopped we know that Faraday will be around for the construction of the Orchid and he'll meet up with child Charlotte at some point as well.
