Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

I LOVE Bones, and hated that it was moved because of the conflict with Ugly Betty.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

I haven't watched a single episode of Ugly Betty this season. I can't remember what it was, but there was a big scheduling conflict when it and Grey's Anatomy premiered. I chose to catch up with those two later and just never did. I was planning on catching up via repeats because they have always showed the reruns. Looks like I'll be waiting for the DVD instead.

Oh, and slightly off topic, but I'm not happy with Bones moving either. Thursdays are just way too hectic for me; I was already having problems catching everything. If it comes down to it, I'll probably just wait to catch Bones on reruns.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Last week I watched Ugly Betty, CSI and Eleventh Hour - my usual Thursday. I wanted to watch Bones on a time-shifted channel (I'm on EST, so I was going to watch it on a PST channel) and that Fox channel out of Seattle was completely screwed up, so I couldn't see the first of the two episodes (the circus one). Had to download it. Now I'll not make that mistake again, and watch Bones at 8, Ugly Betty at 11 on the ABC PST channel which does work fine.

At least LOST was moved off Thursdays before this season began!

I have to agree. The family part is annoying. Even the kid is annoying.
I noticed a lot of comments from people on the ew board saying they are really annoyed that she is still Ugly and dresses like she does. Isnt that kind of the point of the show?

I still really enjoy the show though it is in an oversaturated Thursday timeslot.

Why has everyone lost interest?

Why is ABC throwing away another good show when they keep things like the Bachelor on?

Seriously, that's just who Betty is. To have her "glam up" would make her just as superficial and stuck up as those around her, which is the exact opposite of the show's message.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

The fact that Betty is being pulled and won't get a chance to compete in May sweeps is a very bad sign. I'll eventually get around to the 9 going on 10 backlogged episodes on my DVR. But, this isn't must-see TV for me anymore.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

as much as I enjoy the show, it's too bad it's becoming a bit formulaic and a tad stale... maybe just ending the show would be the best thing - have a resolute ending.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Season 2 was the worst...this season has been pretty entertaining...but this show always feels LONG - even when I'm enjoying it, each episode feels like 2 hours long instead of an hour... I don't know why but it does.

I'm not sure if this movie really is a nail in the coffin because I think ABC genuinely is trying to launch their awful new comedy show (Seriously, "In the Motherhood"? Did "Notes from the Underbelly" teach them NOTHING!?) and are giving it a prime spot and time to grab an audience...for once I actually believe the company line that ABC is feeding people about this matter...

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Surprising - I didn't think it was doing that badly, given the rough timeslot. Makes DVR management of the timeslot a bit easier though.

I had to re-read this article to see how many more episodes I would have to sludge through before the "benching". The last two have been hard to get through.

03/26 Ugh.

According to Michael Ausiello's blog on EW.com, Ugly Betty is getting renewed for a 4th season. Surprise, Surprise.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Ratings have been slipping for a while. I faithfully watch UB. It's funny, heart-warming and manic at times. Doesn't play very well in reruns since it's so soap-ish. Glad it's getting a renewal.

Word. This show is getting borderline unwatchable.

I think it's been quite good. What are you not liking?

I'm also glad of the renewel.

as for the most recent episode: "There's No Place Like Mode" - what a riot of an episode. The birth scene was simply over the top and hysterical. And the introduction of Matt (guest star Daniel Eric Gold) - he's cute... I approve

I approve too but lets hope he sticks around for more than a season. Betty's other guys have not had a lot of longevity.

To me, every storyline is just a rehash of something that has already happened.

Re: ABC benches 'Ugly Betty'

Last episode was just OK. They really need to get back to the mysteries like the one surrounding Alexis and Amanda's father. The pacing of the show has been a lot slower lately too.

Yeah - what happened with that? I can't even remember besides Gene Simmons being on a couple episodes.

Definitely not enough Amanda this season.

even the rooming of Amanda and Marc - that hasn't produced any side stories or calamaties.

I am bored to tears of this non-stop love quadrangle with Daniel and Wilhemina and those other two. Who cares? Not an interesting storyline at all and they have drug that out forever.

I really miss all the office drama and over the top storylines.

The irony is that the best subplot this season was the one with Lindsay Lohan.

I agree if the writers can write an entire episode where Marc, Amanda, Betty and Matt go on a road trip, and throw all the other side stories out the window - I'd be happy.

I thought that was the worst. I mean, Horrible. Do we really need to see someone else backstabbing Betty? Talk about been there done that.
Really the only thing I dont like is Betty's family. They could dispose of them and I wouldn't care.
