You really can't go wrong with HBO or Showtime. HBO is better, but Showtime is not far behind.

I know Time Warner is currently running a special in which you will receive both HBO and Cinemax at a "buy one, get one" cost. I'm willing to bet Comcast may very well be running a similar deal, or, at the very least, are running some sort of special.
As far as the "best" premium channel, well... I am personally partial to HBO. Between the movies and the original programming, it winds up delivering the best quality for me. I can understand the appeal of Showtime for their recent upswing in first-run shows, but I find their movie choices lacking.
Me? I would vote for either HBO or Cinemax, with HBO gaining a slight edge.

Either HBO or Showtime. Showtime mainly for Dexter and Californication.
HBO has some solid original series and they produce some excellent documentaries.

Re: whats the best premium channels
I have comcast and re-enroll in their promo every time mine is about to expire. I currently get digital plus with free HD dvr, HBO, SHO, Starz, NFL network (which should be free anyway) for $45/month.
Anyone who pays more than this should call a csr rep (via customer retention) and do what I'm doing. You may get a rep that says they can't put you into new promos or that they're for new users, but just call back and get someone else. The people there have no idea what they're doing and, if you get the right person, you can get a sweet deal. I also do the same for my high speed internet. I just have to call before the promo ends and get in on the next one.....or you can always threaten to leave and go to Directv (or mention you were offered a package like mine above - that didn't sound right) and they'll bend over backwards to keep you. I once said I received a better offer and was going to switch and the csr said they'd match it. I wasn't expecting that and had to make up a package. I threw in 2 free ppv movies. (nonporn)
