How come CBS never has had a New Years Eve show?

I can't remember if they ever did one unless Letterman did a show once but they never do a New Years show.

do they have some policy where they don't want to cover New Years Eve?

this might be a topic for a separate thread but since Leno resigned with NBC could he maybe start his own New Years show?

I remember he maybe 1 or 2 Tonight Show New Years Eve Countdown shows.

Now would be the time to act and take out Ryan Seacrest once he takes over full time for Dick Clark.

What exactly is special about "covering new year's eve"?

Having a show with thinly "talented" people interlaced with merely ordinary people acting foolish while waiting for time to advance to the point where a paper calendar changes numbers?

It's another day of the week.

Most of CBS' viewers are so old that they're in bed well before midnight.

I prefer NBC over CBS but I thought maybe it was an economic decision or they know they can't compete with Dick Clark.

What's scary to me is how old this thread makes me feel.

I saw the title and the first thing that came to my mind was, "What about the Guy Lombardo New Years show??" My mom and dad rang in the new year with Guy every year.
