The Big Bang Theory - The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis 12/15/08

Spoiler:
Sheldon irks the gangs with his obession with proper Christmas gift protocol. Lenoard's crushed when Penny dates a colleague of his.

Ho-hum episode until the ending. Absolutely great ending.

Classic ending, but I liked the other stuff too. LIke Sheldon's analysis of gift-giving, and a possible return to Leonard pursing Penny?

That last scene was just about the funniest thing I've seen in a really long time.

I did too, especially Sheldon using a wrist brace (not the controller strap, an actual brace lol) and what looked like lotion haha.

Well, he has used a brace in the past (if I remember correctly, it was due to an "old Nintendo injury).

And the lotion is more than likely a sort of drying powder that bowlers use to keep their hands from getting sweaty, so that they might grip the ball better.

And now saw the end

Sheldon's reaction to Penny's gift was absolutely gold.

Yeah, I am confused about Len and Penny... are they going to get them back together? He is still with Sara Rue I thought on the show.

Anyway, I have to say, I hated this show in season 1 but season 2 is kicking serious ass. Way funnier and snappy than Mother has been this season.

I loved when he came out with all of the gift baskets for Penny.
"Sheldon, what did you do?"
"You're right, it's not enough!"

And then the hug.
"Leonard! Sheldon is hugging me!"
"It's a Saturnalia miracle!"

Best. Episode. Ever.

Everything was great. The Wii bowling (which will now be the template for my own family's Christmas day - we're getting a Wii ), the bromance, Penny's "I'm the queen of the geeks" schtick, all of it. But the gift scene was priceless:

Sheldon - "All I need now is a healthy ovum and I can grow my own Leonard Nimoy!"

Penny - "Sheldon, all I'm giving you is the napkin."

And poor Leonard. "My leg is killing me, thanks for asking!"

Is it weird that I always understand what Sheldon is talking about?

He has done the basic thing in a previous episode, about birthday presents I believe. At least they are consistent. I agree completely with his feelings as well.

Nah, I think it is pretty normal for this show's fanbase. Do you find yourself disagreeing with things, and rolling your eyes when something all makes sense because they forgot a negative?

I love it when I understand what they're talking about, like Schrodinger's Cat, etc.

On a similar note, when Sheldon said "I feel nauseated" I went into a long explanation to my wife about how most people misuse the word nauseous, when they should say nauseated. I was very happy that Sheldon used it correctly, which of course he would.

The reaction from my wife, however, was to roll her eyes and say "I know, you've explained it to me before..."

Your wife and my wife must be sisters. Except she smacks me when I try to explain the difference between nauseated and nauseous for the 100th time.

Considering Sheldon himself has explained it to Leonard in this show before, this really isn't much of a surprise.

Clicked on this thread a while back and was surprised that this show was still on the air. This episode was pretty funny and the "nerd" humor was trite sometimes but not overdone. Compared to the rest of the series, how is this episode?

From the posts here, people seemed to think it wasn't as funny as the rest of the episodes so far this season except for the end. I think they've all been good.

"What it is is a cacophonous of assault of eucalyptus, bayberry, cinnamon and vanilla. It's as if my head was trapped in the pajamas of a sultan."
