What happened to that project that Roeper and Ebert were working on that was supposed to be another review show?

Lyons & Bailes & Lyons & Mankiewicz all get the axe within a month or so of each other and glad to see all 4 hacks gone. Scott & Phillips will be a welcome change. They were by far the 2 best co hosts with Roeper when Ebert was no longer able to do the show.

i got used to them, but Phillips and Scott were very good when they sat in. Phillips might be a little dry and crusty, but i am sure i will warm to him more.

Isn't it fascinating about Roeper -- he was generally DESPISED when he was announced as Siskel's replacement... and now people are clamouring for his return?
I always liked him... and the way he would piss-off fanboys at every turn.

I am thrilled to see Lyons go. Mank was pretty good and I would have liked to see him paired up with a less obnoxious co-host.
I only worry that Phillips and Scott together will be too dry and bring an air of pretentiousness that will alienate many viewers. Either balanced with Roeper was fine, but together? I'm not sure that is going to work.

Good news, I guess. I had gotten somewhat used to the two Bens despite their smarm, though the show was no longer the weekly "event" it was back in the Siskel & Ebert days.
I don't see Philips and Scott being a great improvement over the Bens. What's needed are people who are erudite and eloquent, yet accessible and charismatic, and the two new hosts are only accessible, without the schmuck factor of the Bens.
Siskel & Ebert are practically irreplaceable, though Roeper had come into his own and was a suitable co-host until Ebert left.

I really hated the new version of the show when it changed last year, now I just tolerate it since it allows me to get hear some talking points, I mean details about new movies and some clips. Their prepped discussion is too Entertainment Tonight though.
Glad that the Bens are going and they are getting two competent critics again. I grew up with Siskel and Ebert and enjoyed Roeper, so hopefully in September, I can enjoy At the Movies again.

I don't think they will attract female viewers with the new hosts.
Probably would not matter anyways.

If anyone cares Richard Roeper is guest hosting The Big Tease on Demand on the Reelz channel 238 on directv.
He just makes comment about movie trailers for movies on demand and on pay per view.
I assume he only did one show since they repeat this show several times a month.

Apparently the first of the NEW At The Movies airs starting this weekend. Here in NYC, it's Channel 5 on Saturday Sep 5 at 7:00pm.

Thank god we got real critics back on the show...I love both those guys. No, they're not Ebert (who obviously can't do TV these days, anyway), but I'd take either of them any day over Roeper.

There is an almost 5-minute promo video with interviews with both Scott and Phillips up on the At The Movies website:

"Serious reviews from serious journalists." Kind of a slap in the face for the Bens, not that Lyons doesn't deserve it.
