And here's a little more on the "mystery three finalists" in the Comedy Lead Actor category:
So far I have seven of the 10 chaps on the Emmys' list of top 10 best comedy actors. Later today I'll have solved the mystery of the lost boys. Meantime, let's have some fun: Do you want to guess?
Here's who I have confirmed — see below. Also, I happen to know that longtime Emmy fave Kelsey Grammer ("Back to You") is not on the list for best comedy actor.
7 OF EMMY'S TOP 10: BEST LEAD COMEDY ACTOR
Alec Baldwin, "30 Rock" ("Rosemary's Baby")
Steve Carell, "The Office" ("Goodbye, Toby")
Larry David, "Curb Your Enthusiasm" ("The Bat Mitzvah")
David Duchovny, "Californication" ("The Last Waltz")
Lee Pace, "Pushing Daisies" ("Pie-lette")
Tony Shalhoub, "Monk" ("Mr. Monk and the Naked Man")
Charlie Sheen, "Two and a Half Men" ("Is There a Mrs. Waffles?")
IMPOSSIBLE
Kelsey Grammer, "Back to You" ("Pilot")
POSSIBLE
Zach Braff, "Scrubs" ("My Princess")
Jermaine Clement, "Flight of the Conchords" ("Sally Returns")
Kevin Connolly, "Entourage" ("Malibooty")
Johnny Galecki, "The Big Bang Theory" ("The Hamburger Postulate")
Brad Garrett, "'Til Death" ("Swimming with Starks")
Adrian Grenier, "Entourage" ("Adios Amigos")
Jason Lee, "My Name Is Earl" ("Bad Earl")
Bret McKenzie, "Flight of the Conchords" ("Girlfriends")
Jim Parsons, "Big Bang Theory" ("The Pancake Batter Anomaly")
Josh Radnor, "How I Met Your Mother" ("Ten Sessions")

All I know is that if there are not a lot of nominations for Damages and Mad Men, something is seriously wrong. Therefore, given this is the Emmys, I expect them to be snubbed.
I noticed the lack of The Shield on the various lists, but I realized that its last season ended before the Emmy timeframe.

I'm surprised to see Bruce Dern on that list. I'm a huge Big Love fan, but this season he was basically a guest star and really didn't bring anything fresh to the table after some great work in season 1. I'd rather have had Harry Dean Stanton if someone was needed from that show.

I know FX is pushing Glenn Close for the lead since she's the high profile star of that show. But it just seems very odd -- both here and at the Golden Globes-- to see Rose Byrne in that Supporting category, considering the story revolves much around her naive startup lawyer role.

I'm also truly shocked to see Henry Ian Cusick not make the short list (he should have made it in over Naveen). He was a nominee in 2005/06 for his guest work in the Season 2 finale.

I'm currently watching Season 3 of BSG and I've become convinced that one of our society's biggest failings is the failure to award James Callis an emmy for his portrayal of Dr. Gaius Baltar.

That said, there are many performances even more deserving that will never sniff a nomination either. It's the way of Emmy. I'm still in shock The West Wing and Friends weren't nominated.

The first of the "mystery three" finalist has been revieled. But you don't want to see who it is. I'm not kidding; you'll be pissed. Okay, if you must.
Jermaine and Brett better be the final two. That's all I'll say!

Hopefully theses lists are true and Glynn Turman makes the final five for his only episode of In Treatment. Turman played Mayor Royce on the Wire and showed up to play Alex's tormented father in the final week of In Treatment. For anyone who saw that episode, it cannot be denied that Turman turned in a tour de force performance. The range of emotions that he went through was astounding and I hope he gets a lot of credit for what he put on the screen.
And all of us Wire fans know that when the final list comes out, the best show ever put on television will most likely be forgotton for something half hearted like Boston Legal (a show I actally really like). Shame.
