Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

this episode last week w/ Wildcat wasn't all that great. Was that R. Lee Ermey voicing him?

[edit]Just looked. It was.

LOVED the opening sequence with B'Wana Beast. Was laughing at loud at some of the exchanges between the two and the '70s era soundtrack.

A little bored by the main story, but still easily my favorite Batman cartoon.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

Last week episode was OUTSTANDING.

The opener was Bats in Kamandi's time period.
The animation was beautifully done with nice designs and a variety of colors.
Also had a homage to Jack Kirby's famous "build-a-woman" cover by having that as a fallen billboard.

The main story was Bats, Deadman, Green Arrow and Speedy taking on Gentleman Ghost and his army of Dead in London.
The Origin of Deadman was briefly flashbacked.

This episode by Far is my FAVORITE.

Next: Blue Beetle and Blue Beetle. Thats Right both Ted Kord and Jaime appear.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

Yeah, as my past posts indicate, so far I'm really enjoying this series.

I wasn't sure who that Kamandi guy was but he looked familiar. I like how Batman is often portrayed as an inspiration to other heroes in this series; and how Batman inspired Deadman in this ep. The last time we saw Deadman and Batman together it was in JLU and it didn't turn out well.

Indecently, I had started catching up on the my issues of the current Brave and the Bold comic series and I had just read a team up with GA and Deadman just a day or two before this ep aired.

Hey folks,

We've been constantly increasingly impressed by the show. I like the short lead-in segment with different villains/heroes and then the full length show. The double Blue Beetle was particularly fun (we're big fans of the new BB comic book). The dialog has been lots of fun (Bats and BB on technology and just using fists... lol).

Ciao,

There was a flashback to Dan Garrett as well (I thought they would stop with just the cameo appearance of his costume in the lair). Loved how they tied them all in, mentioning that Ted Kord was never able to get the beetle to work for him.

Anyone know why the rights to the Blue Beetle were released for this show? I thought it was a licensing issue, not DC in particular...

It was also cool that they let Ted die which is in line with the comics. Although they changed his method of death, I appreciate that they went with death instead of coming up with some "kid friendly" storyline about how he just disappeared. To me that made the BB story all the more special.

I liked that the death was a direct nod to Captain America's suspended animation. Maybe we'll see Ted again?

Was it?

I thought Batman made it clear that Ted was Dead? That's why the Scarab searched for Jaime.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

Captain American jumped on a rocket and while trying to defuse it it exploded and he ended up frozen in suspended animation. Pretty much exactly what happened with Blue Beetle (except that suspended animation bit)

I doubt they would really go as far as having that actually happen in the cartoon. But it was a nice wink for comic fans.

yeah I know. I guess I didn't think it was supposed to be an homage. oh well.

I don't. Darkseid brutally killed Dan Turpin in Superman:TAS... Hawkgirl "re-killed" Solomon Grundy in JLU... Deadman, by using Batman's body, killed the Black Manta like character in JLU.... And those weren't even nice heroic deaths.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

Another FUN episode.
Glad they were able to include Dan Garrett.
I notice that one of human bodyguards while on coffee/lunch break was reading a MYSTERY IN SPACE in comic Book.
I love little touches like that.

Adam Strange appear in MYSTERY IN SPACE.
Would be cool if he would show up.
Batman and Adam had about 3 team ups in the B&B comic book.

This show has the best Aquaman of any show/movie/comic I have ever seen, by far.

Wasn't expecting the lisp on Atom.

The Aquaman episode with Atom was my first viewing of this series and man am I on board. I just caught a blue beetle one today. I was not expecting the jovial, overt humor. So many great elements and I can't wait to see more.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

After DVR-ing this show since it's start, I finally had a chance to watch all the episodes today. Wasn't sure what I was going to think at first, but ...wow...what a great series!

- Love that they are really going through the DC pantheon of characters, even if some are a bit different here.
- Love that the openings are a mini story (with differing characters) unto themselves from the main story.
- Animation is pretty decent, too. Much better than the last Batman animated series.

I'll definitely be picking this up when it comes out on DVD.

Re: Batman: The Brave and the Bold coming to Cartoon Network

While I'm really enjoying this series, I have to say that I don't really know much about many of the characters Batman teams up with or battles. Is everyone a character from the comic books or have some been created for this series?
